Daniel Defense or Spikes Tactical

Looking for a bolt carrier group to go with a BCM lower and upper. Both look to be quality so is there any other reason to pick one or the other?

I have a Spikes lower with a Daniel Defense bolt carrier group. If it were me I would go with the Daniel Defense over Spikes.

BCM also makes a very good bolt carrier group. I have one in my other AR15. My BCM cost the same as the Daniel Defense and is just as good. I would take BCM or Daniel Defense over Spikes any day but that's my personal preferance based on my limited experience with Spikes.

They were in-stock yesterday morning I guess they sold out within a few hours. What I do is click "Email me when back in-stock" button. That's how I was able to get my 14.5 LW BCM upper. They usually email in the morning at about 7-8 am.

Agreed DD or BCM, if you really want BCM they'll come back in stock, their BCG do sell out fast but they're usually quick about getting another batch out. Unless your going for the IonBond BCG which i haven't seen in stock for a year and a half now.

I'd go with either DD or BCM, they're both fully milspec. LMT is good but make sure you get their M16 carrier not AR-15 style. Colt is excellent too but about $180. I'm not sure about Spikes... I went with DD last year and have been pleased. The one I got had the unmarked carrier but the current ones tend to have the DD logo on the carrier. BCM of course has a pretty conspicuous logo on theirs if that matters to you.

Hope quality parts catch up to demand again, a shame so much is hard to find lately.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I just got an email back from BCM saying a 6 to 8 week eta on more BCG's. I wanted one but I really don't want to wait that long.

So I guess I am gonna look for a DD or something else.

BCM=Colt=Noveske=LMT=Daniel Defense>S&W=Spikes>most others

just imo

S&W and Spikes are just so close to BCM prices that I just go BCM.

Ah, OK. Didn't realize everything was out of stock again... it was like this after the 08 election, I guess folks are in a buying mood again.

Seems like I remember reading somethin being wrong with the LMT bcg's. Am I confusing them with something else?

The gas key is MIM. It's up to you to decide if that's something wrong. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

Hmmmm

I've bought two Fail Zero BCGs recently; the clean up is super easy and they seem to be holding up well after a few thousand rounds. My only concern is what to do when I need a new extractor. I suppose I could just put a mil spec one on it.

On a disappointing note, I bought a chrome plated Rock River BCG a few weeks ago and when I unwrapped it I was really surprised at the crappy machining. My buddy who is a machinist commented that it looked like a Reese's monkey bored it out with a cheap Chinese drill press. Ill take some pictures and post them on here.
