All kinds of danger has arisen on Capitol Hill as Republican Congressional
leaders are negotiating with the White House to get the final
appropriations bills passed so everybody can get out of town before Christmas.

The National Journal's CongressDaily reports this morning that "Aides to
Senate majority Leader Lott are preparing a new proposal on immigration
reform in response to a general framework for compromise put forth earlier
this week by the White House. ... A White House spokesman confirmed that a
legislative compromise on immigration was in the works but could not
comment on the specifics."

The good news appears to be this:

* The White House is backing away from the amnesty for 2 million-plus
illegal aliens from Central America.

The bad news is that Lott appears to be considering giving the White House:

* a return to a program that allows illegal aliens to pay a $1,000 fine and
stay in the country and try to adjust their status from illegal to legal;

* a loosening of the 1996 law's requirement that aliens convicted of a
certain level of crime be deported.

Other bad news is that the Democrats appear to be considering giving some
Republicans:

* an expanded ag guest worker program.

What is unsaid in the news reports is what is happening to the suggestion
for a 1-million illegal ag worker amnesty.

I see too many dammed people....period! More stress on our resources, more stress on the environment, more stress on our lands, more stress on our freedoms, more stress on our jobs, more stress on housing, more cars on the road...etc, etc. What we need are fewer people... not more. When are you gonna say enough? When there's only shoulder room left in the US? When you open your curtains in the morning and find yourself staring up your neighbors rear? SHEESH, we got too many people here already!

I see billons of dollars leaveing the country.I see massive crime increases.I see billions spent in schools trying to teach in about 50 languages.I see taxpayers money going for more free medical.I see a country allready divided by many people who refuse to learn english being even more divided.I see overburdened schools,road systems,medical systems,jails,police forces and all haveing to be paid for by taxes from US citizens.Want anymore reasons I have plenty more.Ranchers cattle killed,fences cut,drugs brought in.Want some more?Think about it a little I am sure you can think of some.

Boy, Robert are you uninformed, this has nothing to do with
race. If illegal immigration is allowed to continue there
won't be an America for your children or anyone including
the illegals now here.
Mexico has become an open door for all types of immigration
not just from Mexico, at one time they were looking for work
now they come for different reasons.Welfare, social security, crime, etc.
Texas now funds schools thru property tax and its going through the roof,illegals and others use these schools and
don't pay property tax.
At some point the boat is full what to do then,??Those
potential gun guys and gals,oh yeah sure, they are votes
for the democratic party.
Last but not least more people= more laws=less freedom.

Bullet 44, you are dead on right on, this election that is ongoing would not even be close if it weren't for "Motor Voter", registation of any and all persons, legal or no.

In a perfect world yes, they are guys and gal's, and they are good and decent people.

Problem, theu are UNinformed voters, and are definitely why WE are losing our country, and our freedoms.......not to them, but to the Socialista's.......the Dem's have figured a way around the core American voting bloc's.

This, must stop, and soon............

We as a Const Republic are in our death throes NOW, soon it will be too late.

It's not about race, color, ethnicity, religion, etc, etc, it's about IGNORANCE.

Not knowing OUR heritage, NOT learning American history, by forced, rapid inclusiveness, they are dividing us, and a house divided cannot stand.

I am all for immigration, but controlled, what made this country great was when the huddled masses came, and BECAME Americans.

It did not mean, does not mean giving up your culture or your heritage.

But when you are a guest in anothers home, you abide by the house rules.

If you care about America, and want to BE an American, learn American ways..........don't Balkanize yourself, as a separate group, trying to keep , and force your "Old World Values", on Americans, melt in the pot, learn the language, just as probably all on this board did at one time or another in their families past.

Is this too much to ask?.

The Immigrants from days gone by thought not, why should it be any different NOW.

You gentlemen have got to be kidding with this isolationist bull ****. Right! It is already too late. If current trends continue (and they will!) hispanics will put anglos in the minority by 2050. We have no way of stopping this trend. And the only way we can sustain our way of life is to make sure that they maintain their system of values and not corrupted by the liberal government employee in our own country. That is the REAL problem to our way of life. Immigrants don't keep us from celebrating our heritage, its our own government. It funny that our own government also keeps them from learning our heritage and the proper American way of life.

Okay, this one probably set a record for going South.

Gentlemen, everyone knows that we debate courteously and in a civilized fashion here.

Immigration can be a RKBA issue, but Isolationism isn't. And this thread does not show us at our finest.
