The Federalist 99-49 (xtract)
~~~~~~
Across the continent, in an irony of fate, it turns out that the six
firefighters killed in Massachusetts -- four attempting to rescue two
who had entered the building believing there might have been some
vagrants inside, died because two romantic drifters knocked over a
candle during an argument, igniting the fire. The drifters then
vacated the building without reporting the fire, which ultimately
engulfed the whole complex.
Fearing a backlash against the "homeless" (and never one to miss a
media opportunity), Mr. Clinton went to Worcester to join the memorial
service for the firefighters. As anticipated, he suggested earlier in
the day that if we did more for vagrants, they would not have to
reside in abandoned warehouses. If prosecutors have their way, the two
miscreants in question will have permanent housing compliments of the
State of Massachusetts.
Speaking of vagrants, Robustly Abominable (AKA Rosie O'Donnell) used
her talk show to assault New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for his
policies on the vagrants: "He thinks he, like, runs the world.
Newsflash, Rudy -- it's not good to arrest the homeless people. ...
This is the way to get those voters. Sure, just, you know, arrest all
the homeless people." The libs are all upset because New York City is
implementing a plan to require vagrants to work for shelter.
