Dan Wesson vbob

Alright guys who here has experience with the vbob? I am seriously considering it since it is a cheaper kobra carry. It will be used for ccw and hd. I have also looked at some les baers, guncrafter, and ed brown, but the valor seems to fit the best at the price. So anyone with first knowledge of carrying it and what holster and carry position.

VBOB

I don't know why a person would spend anymore money on a gun than the cost of a DW. They are great guns. I had a vbob before I downsized the their officer model, an ECO. 100% satisfied.

I own a Brown. It is basically a perfect handgun. That being said I recently handled a VBOB and was shocked at its fit and finish. It really did approach/feel like my Brown. I haven't shot a VBOB but it is a damn impressive feeling.

At 1700 or so for the duty coat one it seems like a bargain.

Chris.

I have an older CBOB (back when they ran around $1K...miss those prices!)
I know the CBOB is a bit different, but even the "lesser" CBOB is a great pistol. For CCW, it's certainly no Seecamp! It's not the lightest or smallest thing out there by any means, but it does shoot great!

The Crossbreed Super Tuck in a 3:30 to 5:00 position works pretty well with a somewhat loose cover shirt (polo or button down)

I don't own a VBob. I do own several other Dan Wessons and you can't go wrong with them. I own and have carried a Guardian which is their lightweight bobbed 1911 and I own and have carried the Brown SF Carry (just different stippling than the Kobra Carry). For concealed carry, most prefer an inside the waistband holster.

Many consider the Milt Sparks Versa Max to be the gold standard. I like it but I actually end up carrying my 1911s in Sparks' Summer Special II more because it is on and off so quick and easy. But, if I had to carry all day, I would go with the Versa Max because it distributes the weight more. BTW, a good gun belt may be more important than the holster. It needs be heavy and you need to be able to cinch it up tight to keep the gun close to the body.

I like my holster in the 3:30 to 4:00 position (right handed).

DW makes an excellent 1911 for the $$s... Extremely well built, close to 'custom' and tight-as-a-drum, finish is excellent...
and can be had in the $1500 range. My Valor and CBOB have been flawless, dead accurate shoots...
Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!!

I had a DW VBOB once, but in general, Dan Wesson 1911's are tops in terms of price and quality, they're fantastic 1911's.

I have a Dan Wesson PM7 .45 1911 and it is the finest 1911 I've ever shot. They use state-of-the-art CNC machines to produce a gun that is beautifully made that shoots great right out of the box. You won't go wrong with a Dan Wesson.

I keep trying to find a reason not to buy a DW 1911 and I cannot find one.
Aside from my budget.

Also hung up on CBOB vs VBOB learning towards the VBOB but would like to hold both feel the difference but they dont have any V-bobs at my LGS.

And also full size or commander size... so many options and too expensive to own them all (me at least)

I have a older CBOB back when they were under a $1000. DW lost me when they had big price jump . Metro Arms has a bobtail commander size That is hand fitted and as tight and as smooth as my DW for around $650. I will buy one of those. DW to me today are over priced.
Just my 02

Just to mimic what so many have said, I own the DW 4.25" CBOB and I couldn't love it any more. It is VERY accurate, dependable, and reliable. I have owned mine for years, carrying it regularly and shooting often.

You can't go wrong with this firearm. It has been described (I believe accurately) as the best production 1911 on the market.

Good luck!
Tony

I actually prefer the SS a little more myself.

I think a bobtail commander is about the most concealable of any full sized handgun. The VBOB is not a light gun so it takes some commitment to carry it but the weight is part of what makes it such a great shooter.

I carry mine in a Silent Thunder leather lined kydex holster with a FBI cant at 4:00-ish. I'm in a heavy t-shirt or Henley most of the time and it just disappears.
