Dan Wesson Valor

Showing off my new Dan Wesson Valor 1911. It's sporting a set of VZ Simonich Gunner grips. The Heine Straight Eight sights may take a little getting used to but I think I like them

.

I never get tired of seeing Valor pictures. I don't have a particular desire to own a million 1911s, I like more variety, so I'll probably only ever own a pair - my current GI RIA that I used to learn the platform and one upper-level production one. The Valor is currently the far and away leader for that.

Thanks everybody!

LockedBreech, I completely agree with having a variety in my collection. As I've grown my collection I've gotten onto this kick of having at least one large and one small firearm for each caliber. I'm most of the way there but have made an exception with the 1911s. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry three inch .45 and a Para Pro Custom doublestack .45. Well, I kept coming across the Valor on the forums and then I stopped by my lgs and they had one so I fondled it for a while and decided that I just HAD TO HAVE ONE! I have a hundred reasons but the biggest one is that I just love this particular firearm. The traditional American .45 with nice clean lines and great craftsmanship. The lgs wanted $2,098 for theirs with the duty coat. I got this one used for $1,300 after shipping and with the extra grips from a police sergeant here in Texas. I've stripped it down and inspected everything and no issues. It is just so well put together. I have a range day scheduled for two weeks from today with my dad. I don't know if I can wait that long!!!

You made the right call shopping around $2,098 was highway robbery. $1300 is a darn good price and I don't think you'll ever regret it.

Ditto 10mm4ever..."I think the Valor is still the finest production 1911 made"
Have several 1911s (plus 2 Colts) and my Valor IS my best 1911... no debate!!...
And I also love its 'Younger Brother'!

Love the pics. Y'all are gonna get me in trouble. That is a fine looking pistol and very hard to resist. Wonder if I ask nicely my wife would let me purchase a $2000 gun.

Here's a strategy that's worked for me...
Tell her "It's a $2000 'top-of-the-line' 1911... but wait Honey, I think I can get it for $1475"!!!...
Sweetie, we'll be saving over $500!!
Go for it big-guy, it'll work!!
.

Uzo you haven't met my wife. Lol. If you're near the Dayton area you can come and tell her for me. I'll probably need back up!

Uzo, that is the EXACT strategy I used on this one, LOL:). Very nice set you have there. After playing with it for a bit I switched the grips out back to the original. The gunner grips are just too aggressive. If I shot with gloves they'd be great but I don't so.... I like the wood grips you have on yours. Thinking wood or maybe pearl, idk yet.

Eazy, this is a tried-and-true approach... it must be something in your presenation... fine-tune-it, the Valor is worth it...
Now go and make us proud!!

Love Dan Wesson 1911s.... I keep going back and forth on getting a railed version but eventually I will break down and snag one----matter of time. :D
