Dan Wesson Serial Numbers

I have created a new forum specifically for Dan Wesson information and have found some really good information here. Since the BATF has seised the books of the various Dan Wesson companies little is known about production dates of the revolvers.

If you own a Dan Wesson revolver that you orginial purchased and remember the year you purchased it I would apprecaite it if you would post the model, year purchased and the serial number (add xx for the last two digits)

This information will help out those trying to research the age of their gun.

This way we'll have the list available here and at the Dan Wesson Forum

Here is what I have seen posted so far on various sites:

Model 11 - S/N 41xx purchased in 1971 or 1972
Model 15-2 - S/N 7261x purchased in 1977
Model 44 - S/N 0080xx purchased in 1979
Model 15-2VH6 - S/N 37756x purchased in 1986.
Model 32-20 - S/N 32-20b05xx purchased in 1988 or 1989.
Model 44 2″ Fixed Barrel - S/N SD10xxx Purchased 1994 - 1995

I have a DW 44 mag that came with 6-inch barrel, made in Monson, Mass. I don't see a model number. S/N 0056XX purchased new in 1982.

You have a Dan Wesson model 44. The large frame Dan Wesson models were usually named for their respective caliber. If in stainless steel add a 7 to the front of the model number, i.e. a stainless 44 mag would be a model 744. This naming convention does not follow with the medium frame revolvers and some of the supermags. You can go to the web site that jbaldwin printed above to get a good rundown of the various Dan Wesson model numbers.
 
Thanks, Mine is blued. I got fancy wood DW grips, but still have the darker originals. Here is a recent photo:

Thanks mountainclmbr for the serial number. It's a little concerning since someone supplied a higher serial number but a much earlier purchase date. Wonder if this one sit in a shop for a while or wasn't shipped. Guess we'll never know!

I saw that too. I don't know how long the shop had this gun. I don't even live in Florida anymore so I can't even see if shop still exists and ask if they remember.
 
Dan Wesson .357 serial number

I have a Dan Wesson Arms .357 that I purchased new in early to mid 1970. This was purchased with a 6 inch barrel and has a blued finish. I believe this is a large frame revolver.

The serial number is 26851-1. I do not have a model number but would like to know if anyone can supply one.
 
i think i bought my 44VH in 1984 or 85 and the serial number is B024024. it wears an 8 inch vented barrel with a white front sight. it also has a purple frame and the rest is blued. i will look for the receipt and give the exact year
