Dan Wesson repair

C Z has bought the dan Wesson line of hand guns, but they do not repair wheel guns, so can anyone tell me who does? A case blew out at the bottom and pressure entered the innards of the gun and did something that seems to be a different type of repair, my gunsmith says it looks like a factory repair only.. any suggestions on what to do? I took it in because when loading one shell fits a little tight in the cylinder, that was the hole that the casing blew back in the innards.. thanks

Ray, your post leaves more questions than answers, for me. I think what you are saying is you had one shell casing split when it was fired, correct? If that is what happened it should not have damaged the charging hole in question. But it do something.
I can only guess that when the shell casing ruptured it created a carbon build up in the damaged charging hole, such as happens when lots of 38 special ammo is fired in a .357 Magnum cylinder.
If this is the case the easy way to fix this. Is to get a .40 Caliber brass brush, chuck it up in an electric drill using a slow speed on the drill run it back and forth in the stubborn charging hole. This will clean out any excess carbon and crud build out.
If the above does not work, a gunsmith could ream out the charging hole. If that does not work, a new cylinder may well be in order.
If you were shooting new factory ammo, I would contact the company that manufactured the ammo, before I did anything else.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Sounds like a reload with a double charge. You may be able to get a replacement cylinder for it and then have a good gunsmith repair it for you.

Did the case blow out or the chamber?
If the chamber blew out then I think you're done as the pressures will have caused all sorts of over stress throughout the gun.
