Dan wesson night sights

Have any of you had problems with the trijicon night sights that come on your dan wesson? I just picked up a new bobtail today and the rear sights are very dim. The front sight doesn't light up at all. Even after I tried charging it with a bright light for 10 seconds. Any ideas?

Trijicon night sights use tritium so trying to charge them under a light won't work. Most likely the night sights are old and simply need to be replaced. In my experience, Trijicon night sights are usually good for 10-12 years; I'm not sure how long the company rates them for. That might give you a little insight into the history of your gun and how long its been sitting around for. Which means nothing in terms of the quality or function of the gun... Did you buy it as new?

Check the date code on the sights. I would be willing to bet they are just old.

The gun was made in 2014

I bet DW would take it back and fix it for you free. My brother gave me a little key chain with one of the little vials inside, and it's far brighter than what remains of mine in three DW's I own. I wonder how hard they are to replace the vials with new ones, or even where to get them.

Make sure you call Dan Wesson first. They may tell you to contact Trijicon and send the slide to them. As I understand it, Trijicon will not allow anyone else replace the tritium lamps in their sights, so the gun (at least the slide) is going to end up with them either directly or through DW.

I recently dealt with both Dan Weaaon and Trijicon on a night sights issue, and the experience left me less than satisfied. I called Dan Wesson and they said I needed to call Trijicon, and when I called Trijicon they said it was Dan Wesson's problem. I finally got Trijicon to issue a RMA and they replaced the sight, but it took forever.

The procedure is:
1- Go to Trijicon's web site and contact their QA department via the form on the site.
2- After they review your message, they will contact you and either decline the issue or issue a RMA.
3- You will have to remove the sights and send them to Trijicon.
4- If they replace the sights, you will have to install them back on your pistol.

Good luck!

shining light on a tritium sight doesn't do anything for its brightness.

Also there are different levels of brightness you can get in night sights. Depending on your needs. perhaps the ones on your gun are just dimmer then you'd prefer? That said contact both trijicon and DW and see whats up.

So I tried to contact Dan Wesson. They never answer the phone so I moved onto trijicon. They were more than helpful. They told me to bring the gun back to the dealer I bought it from. Tell them to install new sights for me and have it be the dealers problem to send the old sights back for a refund since the gun is only one day old to me. I checked the date code on the sights and it is also 2014. Trijicon also said that if the dealer gives me trouble I can send the slide directly to them for replaced sights. The only downfall is I will have to pay shipping and it could take a few weeks.

Best bet is just send the slide to Trijicon if they've said they will take care of it . Slide is not a serial numbered part so you can put it in a flat rate box supplied by post office. Shipping cost is next to nothing compared with hassle of going through store where you bought it .
