Dan Wesson Gunsmith

Looking for a Dan Wesson gunsmith, preferably in Ohio or close by. Have an older Dan Wesson 357 mag (8" blue barrel, solid rib back, original handles) that has issues with cylinder no advancing correctly after each shot. It's a hit or miss issue after firing. Without rounds, it advances smoothly. It may very well be a headspace issue, but I would like to have it checked out by someone with far more experience than myself. Also, based on the info provided, can anyone confirm the model no?? I was told when it was given to me that it was a service revolver for a former california police officer. Can't see 8" as a service weapons, but then...

As far as the 8 inch barrel not being suitable for a service revolver, maybe somebody switched barrels. It is a Wesson after all.

Without pictures or more details its hard to ID a Dan Wesson as there were lots of models.

For better info as that site specializes in Dan Wessons & has a handy "What model do I have" helper you mighgt find useful.

Many, but not all DWs were interchangable barel guns so you might want to check if either the barrel was incorrectly reassembled, or the 8" is the original barrel.

First thing to check on a Dan is the grip screw being the proper length and tightened properly.

For hammer problems I'd agree, but this seems to be a hand/cylinder/bolt problem.

Check the space from the barrel to the cylinder. I've seen this before on
15-2's. If it's to close,it can cause the problem you're having. It usually gets worse when the gun gets hot.
