Dan Wesson 357: scope recommendation?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share. I've got a Dan Wesson 357 in the 8" variety. I'm hoping to find a scope that will extend my range effectively to about 75yards. Of course, there are some equipment gurus out there who will suggest that I spend a gazillion dollars on the model they've got. Not interested. I want a solid performer that is a great value, too. I'd like to come in under a hundred dollars if I can. Am I dreaming?

Well its different from a scope in the sence that it offers no magnification, but it will definetly help your point blank to 100+ yard effectiveness.

I put this Bushnell Multi-Recticle Reddot scope on my Smith 629 last year and have been more than pleased with the results. Shooting groups instead of shotgun patterns at 100 yards is now done with a fair amount of ease. The ability to change your recticles is nice and helps out in different lighting and target situations. Its held up well to the recoil that a 44 magnum can dish out...ive put probably 1000 full house rounds through it since i put it on with no problems. I paid 80 somethin bucks for it...midwayusa.com has them i think for 79. Really cant beat them for the price...a good handgun scope will probably run you at least twice that.

how much you want to spend?

The .357magnum in an 8" big frame revolver is usually not enough to damage a scope too much. (357MAX, yes...which is why I had to buy my dad a new scope)

I have a cheapie BSA 2x20 on my Taurus M66 6" and it has never once given me any cause for worry. Either with full house 125gr 1500fps loads or with 180gr "game" loads...the scope has been a champ.

I bought my dad a Simmons 2x20 for his .357max Ruger Blackhawk...he thinks it GREAT!

Nikon has some good deals on scopes these days as well.

Burris and Leupold are a step up in quality and price.

My own $.02
