Dan Wesson 357 Revolver

I have a DW 357 revolver & I seem to have lost a small part I can only describe as a button. With the revolver in my right hand I have a small hole about the size of a BB, where I believe the "button" should be, approx. where the side plate meets another piece.
1. Have I described the problem clearly enough for you to tell me if I can purchase this part?
2. Is the revolver safe to shoot?

It is a press fit part called the cylinder stop.
I don't think the actual "nubbin" is available as such, but CZ (the current owners of DW) sell a sideplate that includes the part as a single component so it'll never get lost again!
All it does is to stop the cylinder falling off the axis pin when the gun is opened. With the cylinder closed & latched as it would be when firing it does nothing at all except maybe keep dirt out of the action.

Picture?

It has been a while since I have had my DW apart and I don't recall the part you describe. Can you post a picture, please?

Also check out Danwessonforum.com ,there's a lot of good folks there, but be ready to post pic's as they love to see other DW's.

This little do-hicky, indicated by the red arrow?

Does this to stop the cylinder falling off?

I think he believes his cylinder release 'button' is missing off his Dan Wesson.

There is no cylinder release on the rear portion on the frame on a DW revolver. Its located on the crane in front of the cylinder you pull it down to open it.

Same exact thing happened to my Dan Wesson 357. DW/CZ sells the part. Call them, talk to "Priscilla" in the parts section. It was a bit dear, around $19 if memory serves.
