Hello,

I haven't heard much about Dan Wesson's journey into the world of 1911. Are there any reports on these? Does anyone have one and do you like it? Parts interchange? accuracy? Please help as I'm in the market for a good 1911. Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pat

I have not actually seen a Dan Wesson 1911, or any of their revolvers lately. It is my understanding that their 1911's use investment castings made by Essex. I have seen a few pictures and they appear to have Commander size receivers with Government model size slides. For a company that is supposedly making a lot of guns, they sure are scarce in my neck of the woods.

Dan Wesson of old was a great company.

But revolvers are what they do best.

Sorry but I wouldn't spend good money on one of their Pointman 1911s. There are plenty of well-known custom shops that will do a fine job for you. And when Les bauer, Wilson Combat, Dan Buren (sp?) in Issaquah et al make fine comp 1911s, WHY?

Revolvers maybe if you want 4 barrels but people hardly ever switch them anyway. Nice gimmick. Dan Wesson 1911s heck no! And SW and Ruger make good revolvers and are readily available for testing.

Dan Wesson is a new different company who will be carried in few shops.

I'd pass big time.

...horse hockey... They are 1911s made on Essex frames and slides, all sizes are available not just one.
They use all quality parts and cost MUCH less than a custom from a one man shop or what have you.
The major series is the higher end and you'll see more of 'em soon...
