Dan Wessen Pointman

I see that Dan Wessen has a semi-auto 1911 pattern firearm out now -- the Pointman. On their web site they say that they are going to bring it out "soon" in add'l calibers including 10 mm. Does anyone have any experience with [the new] Dan Wessen company at all and with the semi auto in particular?

I've only seen pictures in the gunrags to this piont. I would like to get one in my hand for a couple of minutes to see if I could live without one.;)

Looks very nice. I'd like to see one in person but no one around here (in Southern Cal) seems to have it in stock for inspection...

Dan Wesson

The shop where I work has a Pointman Minor in stock. I have handled it so here is my thoughts.

The slide fit is tight and rivals my CQB. The barrel appears to have been fitted by someone who knows what he is doing as it is tight with no up or down movement when you push on the barrel hood. The trigger is crisp and breaks like a glass rod. The only thing I don't like is the mag as it has a cheesy base plate but since I only use Wilson 47's that would not be a problem.

Since I have not fired one I can't speak for it's accuracy but as it stands I am impressed.:)

I have only seen pics of these guns myself, but if the 2 DW revolvers I own are any indication, fit, finish, and function will be EXCELLENT...

DW makes a SWEET firearm, and I would expect their 1911 variants to be just as good...

This is the first time I have heard about anything "new" from Dan Wesson. Most here talk about deals on used stuff so I assumed they weren't around making new stuff. This is good news. :D Do you know what I think? I think Dan Wesson would be perfect for picking up where Coonan left off. They need to make us a reliable 1911 chambered in 357 Magnum.

I've seen, but not handled, one. The markings are a little garish, but the overall package reminded me a little of a Les Baer.

Dan Wesson?

Hi guys,
Ordered a Dan Wesson 1911 about a year ago before they were not allowed into soCal. Dan Weson did not want to pay the tariff soCal was exacting on it to test it's guns. Sort of didn't work out for Dan Wesson.

My shooting experiences with it?

Grabbed up a couple of Wilson mags and went to the range. Tight...trigger breaks like glass, after 500 rounds, not a bobble. With normal ball ammo I was getting 2 inches at 25 yards off hand. That was just regular ammo.

Here comes the good part, guys.

In one of these threads on TFL, about a month ago, I heard that Dan Wesson 1911's were going for about $399.....think how I feel....can't get them in or into soCal and I bought mine at $700 and I want another in stainless.:barf:

The Minor looks really nice. Between that model and the new Hi Standard it looks like we're getting some 1911's that actually look like 1911s !!! No forward slide serrations !!! Eat it Kimber :p

OH, that and no MIM parts and a slide and frame made out of quality carbon steel. Imagine that !?
