"Daily roll call of 'Children' killed by Guns'

Perhaps someone can confirm the details of this but as part of some action yesterday in the Senate they are now going to announce the names and ages of "children" killed "by guns" each day.

I heard a portion of the roll call this morning on one news program and of the 3 names mentioned, the last "child's" age was 23!

They then switched to a clip of a the pontificating Teddy Kennedy literally yelling, "How much longer, how much longer are we going to delay....blah blah blah...while the republicans...blah blah blah". It was the most base display of ghoulish, sanctimonious hypocracy I have ever witnessed from a politician. Truly despicable.

Can someone add some details?

As I post this, Rush Lvimaugh is addressing the subject of "childred" killed with guns.

The Democrats are doing this to try to "shame" the Republican majority into voting on the gun bills on the floor. A good response would be for the Republicans to read daily a list of those people whose lives have been SAVED by handguns. But, then, the Republicans are usually about two steps behind on all the issues and they probably won't think of a good response.
 
ChrisL, I saw the same thing, and it happened just a couple of days after I was explaining to my wife how the "children killed by guns" figure includes people in their 20s.

Well, I guess everyone killed with a gun was _somebody's_ child, right?

(Switch into whiny Bill Clinton mode) "It all depends on what the definition of 'child' is." (mode off)

These people are totally without decency, honor, or shame.

Yes, the Republicans could read lists of children who drowned in pools, who were killed in auto accidents, even youngsters who drowned in buckets. But, while I despair about Republicans, I also think they have better taste than to do this.

The Democrats do have a problem now, IMHO. First, people will begin to report on the true circumstances of the deaths they report, ala the 23-year-old 'child'. And, how do they end this charade? That should be interesting.

Certainly feels as though we are at war now, eh?

Why doesn't anyone anywhere talk about the children that our government is actively training to be killers? Using their statistics as to what a child is, our government has trained millions of children to be killers. They kill thousands of people at the command of our government. Clinton himself has ordered these children to kill thousands of people just recently. Why isn't that discussed? Why has this fallen thru the crack? Oh, I forgot to mention, that these "children" hold positions in our Army, Marines, Navy, Airforce, & Coast Guard. These liberals scream bloody murder about children having access to handguns. What about the M60 machine guns, tanks, rockets, M16's, M9 Berreta's, artillery, & such that our government sanctions the training of for our children to learn the art of killing. If it's reprehensible for a child to touch a gun, then what about the military? How old must a person be to not be influenced by the mere possesion of a firearm. Influenced, as they, the liberals would have you believe, that mere possession of a firearm makes a child instantly a homocidal killer frothing at the mouth, desparately wanting to kill their classmates in a wild frenzy of blood. I'm surprised that the liberals haven't got "counselors" for these children of our military.
I was in the Army in the late 70's thru the early 80's. My having access to those weapons didn't pervert my mind. At least I don't think so.

Well for Pete's sake!!

My Mother-in-Law is alive, at 74, and HER Mother is alive, at 83. So, she's also someone's child.

They have no point to make about a child, with the exception that the BG's sometimes are killed, and are someone's child.

They're way off base on this, to bloat the figures to appear something it's not. Much like the Armies of WWII did to confuse the enemy about real numbers of troops.

The same ploy was used in Desert Storm.. Nothing new about this, it's used to confuse the enemy. That'd be the ,lemmings & sheep.
