Are the Daewoo's still allowed to be imported? If so, by who?
If not, does anyone know of a good source?

Anyone have any direct experience with them? I've only handled them, never got to fire one.

I could have bought one at a bargain years ago but didn't:mad:

Thanks in advance,

I've had a Daewoo K-1 (.223) with wire stock since they first came out. My son has one as well. They are more accurate than any of the AR-15 types we've fired and FAR more reliable in our experience. The major factor in my mind is size and weight however in addition to being the most accurate and reliable that I've personally experienced.

Funny thing you ask as I was remembering a freind who had one.
He claimed that it wasn't any good because it would jam. He took it to back to the shop where he bought it for them to look at because it had problems. He was sure something was wrong with it. I went shooting with him and sure enough when he fired a couple of rounds it jammed. I took the rifle to inspect it and found out that he really didn't know how to maintain an AR. This thing was bone dry one the inside. I broke it down and lubed it up and everything was fine after I explained that he had to saturate the bolt with CLP. After that we started firing some more and the flash hider flew off of the barrel... :D no joke.
It was reliable though.

Sorry, the Daewoo K1, K2, DR200, and DR300 are no longer imported and parts are scarce to say the least. The good news is that Ace, LTd. MAkes legal kits to convert the DR series to a nice pistol grip configuration htp://www.riflestocks.com.

Pros:
MOA accuracy out of the box. Very nice trigger. Uses an op rod to cycle action like a FAL or AK, not the direct gas impingement of a traditional AR (except for the K1, which uses direct gas impingement). It is kind of an AK/AR/FAL hybrid. Some parts are interchangeable with an AR. Uses AR mags.

Cons:
Older style 1 in 12" twist so no shooting 69gr match ammo or SS109. No parts available, save for what AR15 parts will fit.

I have had the opportunity to shoot and handle several of these in a few variations. All were 100% reliable and sensationally accurate. Fit and finish were excellent. I would be so very happy if someone would produce an American DR200 variant with a nce pistol grip stock.
