D/T under side of a Cantilever?

Who knows if its best to D/T the underside of a cantilever and place a plastic screw in to keep the cantilever steady or will I achieve the same thing placing the screw in the top of the receiver going up? I just want to add a little support to the back end.

Why? I Thought the purpose of a cantilever scope was too keep you scope lined up with the barrel instead of the reciever? seems like if there is any movement between your barrel and reciever the pressure on the screw is going to change a possibly change your point of aim a bit. Just doesn't seem like it would be any better than mounting the scope on the reciever. I could be wrong though, I'm no expert.
