WOULD you buy a CZ83 in 9x19? Even if it wouldn't use +p?

I sure as heck would. I hope you are listening, you czeck sons of guns.

BTW, I think You czeck sons of guns are A - OKeyDoKey. And I will ontinue to buy your pistols. Thank You Very Much!

Great thought...I have wondered about it for along time...But its not feasible, in the least. The CZ83 in Makarov is the hottest round the gun will handle with its blowback design. Thats what the makarov round was designed for ...the most energy/pressure allowable with the blowback design. BUMMER....
To get more pressure out of it, you either change it to a locked breech or ALOT bigger slide to handle the pressure and timing needed. Either way ...it wouldnt be the same.
I even concieved the thought of a delayed blowback CZ 83.....to handle a little more pressure.....might work, but what to do and how much more pressure will it handle.
Great Idea.......wished it could be done.
Shoot well

You'd have to install a gas retard system like the HK P7M8 if you want to keep it a blowback. Now that would be an interesting Frankenpistol!

The 9x19 Makarov uses a "knurled" chamber to further reduce slide speed. Cases have a ridged look to them when ejected. You can't reload them. I don't think they ever went into full production. IZH started making a bunch of other 9mm Para guns instead.

I knew the 9x18 Makarov "Plus" load tried out was the delayed blowback design you speak of...but didnt know the 9mm Para was. Thats quite a step for a blowback design to take.....its kinda
strange they even tried it that way.....too bad it didnt work.
Shoot well

Detonics made a mini 9mm that was a blowback design. Any info I read on them says they kicked like a mule. I could be done with a CZ-83, but it would need an incredibly stiff recoil spring and, maybe, a heavier slide. Would still kick hard tho. I would just go with a good .380 +p load.

Astra made a whole family of blowback autos in such calibers as 9 mm Largo and 9 x 19. In a pinch, the recoil springs could be used in the suspension of a '63 Buick.

My infamous Accutech BL-9 experience..smaller and lighter than the CZ83 was a blowback designed gun. It wasnt bad to shoot at all, much like my K40 for recoil and recovery, when it would shoot....LOL. Smaller guns are out there...but few are up to the 83's quality and pleasure to shoot quota....a 9mm would be very very nice. Shoot well
