CZ75B trigger pin replacement

The trigger (roll) pin of my CZ75B would shoot loose after about 50 rounds and so I'm thinking of putting in a new one. Is it a matter of pushing it out left to right and putting a new one in right to left? Is there anything else I should look out for (other than ensuring that it is unloaded etc) I don't think the pin is tapered so it doesn't matter which way it goes in first, can someone confirm this?

I had to replace the trigger pivot pin on my 75 Compact. It is not a roll pin that is easily replaced. It does not matter which way you take it out as it is not tapered.

The pin is solid steel with hollow ends. These hollow ends need to be flared out on each side once the pin is installed in the pistol. A good 'smith will probably have the right tool to do this job. That being said I did mine myself. It was a bit tricky. Took two punches, a vice, a hammer and a spare set of hands to get the job done.

So I'd expect that you hold the pin in place via having a punch on each end that are hold in place by the vice? How do you start flaring the ends out? What would be the proper tool for the job if I were to get one - does Brownells sell it?

Your guess is correct. I placed one punch in the vice, placed the frame of the pistol above that (had my son hold it in place) with the punch resting on the trigger pivot pin and held the other punch on the other side of the pin. Tapped the upper punch once, reversed the set up and tapped it again. Had to do that about 3 times before it was flared out properly.

I'm sure someone sells a tool that is made for doing the job but I didn't look into that. I have -way- too much invested in tools as it as. I'm not looking to buy any more if I don't absolutely have to.

Joe, thanks again. If I could ask you one more thing - is there a need to keep the trigger spring in place during the above procedure?

Yes, my mistake. I forgot to mention the trigger spring. I used a small cotter pin to push out the old trigger pin and to hold the assembly in place. Pushing in the new pin will push the cotter pin back out the other side all without having to fool with that spring. If that spring comes out it can be a pain to get back in properly.
