CZ75B Trigger job

When trigger work is done to the standard 75B to improve its trigger pull often it's converted to SA only. Why's that and can someone explain what's changed?

Sometimes Champion model parts (trigger, sear, hammer) are used to get a really really crisp feel to it and these were designed to be SA only. My smith just polished up the existing parts and it works pretty good while retaining the DA mode though I never use it.

CSKS,
It's really a choice made up front. A "clean up" of an existing SA/DA trigger group is an improvement. It cost's less...usually $35-55.00 and can be considered a marginal upgrade.
An SA only upgrade is only available in some guns. The CZ-75B is one of them.
I was told that the elimination of the DA parts/components takes additional drag/friction/pull out of the trigger.
In my case, I elected to have the SA group installed rather than the SA/DA clean-up.
I am very happy with the results. I had CZ-USA (Mike Eagleshield) do the work. I think it runs $120-150...but I'm not sure. You can get a price from them at 800-955-4486.
Since I rarely ever shoot DA...I am really glad I made the change.
My CZ-75B had one of the better SA/DA factory triggers to begin with...I think once you begin shooting a lot (with one or various guns) you refine your shooting and begin to really appreciate & desire a nice trigger. That's what happened to me.
Good luck. The CZ folks are good people (over worked and under staffed....so plan a bit of a wait if using them to do the work).
CZ's are fine guns. I own a 75B SA (converted), CZ-83 (.380), CZ-52, CZ-50 & the Kadet .22 Conversion Kit for the 75B. I like them all.
After several years of shooting, I now prefer SA only guns.

AndABeer,
Can the Champion parts be used on the 75B? I read somewhere that you can only fit them into the non-B models.
VonFatman,
Just curious but did you measure the trigger pull wt. after you got it back from Mike? Is it in the 2.5# range?
Does anyone know what the standard DA/SA pull wts are? 12#/6#?

CSKS,
No, I have not measured the pull. I can only report what I "feel". It's lighter and breaks nice. Not very quantitative, I know....sorry. I really like the new trigger.
I am looking forward to getting my Hi-Power trigger worked on. It fits me so well...once the trigger is right, I plan to shoot it alot!
I do not have a 1911 to compare these guns to...it's one type I have not yet purchased.

The Champion parts can be used on the 75B. The Champion trigger can be used on the 97 as well.

A special note on the Champion hammer is that it will need to be reduced in width to work with the standard models.

FWIW, my Champion came with a 2 pound trigger pull. It can be adjusted further but I havent needed to do that.

SAME DESIGN

Weighed triggers on both my EAA 9x19 Witnesses (CZ75b clone): stock gun = SA 5-6lb, DA off scale; hardchromed 'tweaked' gun = SA 5lb, DA off scale

I like these triggers as they are very 'safe', but both have too much creep and overtravel. Actual 'feel' isn't bad, and lighter than measured, but not like a 1.5lb 1911 stroke.
Since these are real guns I don't much mind the heavier 'pull'.

On my cz75b I polished the surfaces on my hammer and sear. Then I lightened the hammer spring some. Now the trigger is much better and the pistol still is totally reliable. Mark

When a regular DA/SA 75B is converted to SA only and when one resets the trigger , will the trigger be resting at the front-most position as if one is shooting in DA mode? Hmm I hope I'm making myself clear...
