CZ75 vs CZ75 Compact

I have a question that I hope somebody who has experience shooting both the CZ75 & the CZ75 Compact can answer. I own 4 CZ75s (early to mid 80s Bauska imports) that I enjoy shooting. My sister was visiting from Montana and was shooting my CZs and liked them so much she wants to get one. She is leaning towards getting a Compact model as she has a carry permit, however, I have no experience with the Compact CZ75. Are there any notable differences in the shooting characteristics of the Compact model vs the standard model? How about reliability? My CZs have been faultless, but I know that the compact design is somewhat different in that they deleted a locking lug on the barrel and added a full length recoil spring guide rod. I would like to give her one of mine, as I have no question about the record of the standard model, but is the Compact just as good? Any imput is appreciated.

Try a search. It's been discussed quite a bit. Here are just a few of the threads: [Link to invalid post]

I like the Compact, but it's very heavy. You can shave some weight if you can one with an aluminum frame, but it's still a lot heavier than comparable polymer framed pistols. I could never get used to the slide release. I wold always engage it accidentally while firing. The plating peeled of the guide rod quickly and the hammer was too prone to rust. The thin slide, heavy recoil spring, need to drop a hammer on a live round (unless you get a decocker or carry cocked and locked) requires experience. Make sure your sister-in-law is comfortable with it before investing. Once you buy it, selling it means taking a big hit because they're simply not popular.

IMHO the Compact doesn't compare to the full size CZ75s. Others will disagree.

You`ll probably wanna check out the new CZ-75PCP compact. It`s got an aluminum frame ,decocker, nicely rounded edges, rubber checkered grips, new sights, foreward (and rear) slide serrations etc. Very slick package! I dunno if it`s on the website yet but they`ve been running adds in the gun rags for it. Marcus
