CZ75 triggers

A lot of posts on the CZ75 rave about the accuracy and value of the gun. I have never shot one, but for those of you who have: how do you rate the trigger, particularily in single action? Is it target good (25yds) out of the box or is a trigger job standard? How does it compare to a 21/2-3lb 1911? If price wasn't a consideration would you still choose the CZ75 over say a 1911 9mm or other gun? I'm thinking of a 9mm range pistol with a red dot for target shooting at 25 - 50 yds. rather than defensive work, and so many postive statements here about the accuracy of the CZ75 have made me wonder if it is a gun to look into. Thanks.

I've got a CZ-75B and a CZ-85 Combat. I've used both in IDPA competition and like them a lot. In fact, the CZ-85 is my main gun for IDPA, now -- and the 75 had been, until I upgraded. (They can be used in both the Stock Service and Enhanced Service classes.)

The trigger on both of them was good out of the box: heavy, but so smooth that they didn't feel that heavy. (My 85 had a 7lb single-action pull, but it felt like 3lb.)
A nice trigger, but not outstanding.

I wouldn't consider either gun "target" grade, but I can't think of any gun that sells for less than $1,000 that I'd call target grade (except for a couple of .22s).

Guilty. :)

I would rate the single action pull on the stock CZ as good but not great. It really says something about these pistols regarding accuracy since the stock pull is not match grade. I plan to get mine smoothed out a bit after it's good and broke in and I've already talked to the local 'smith who says this is a quick $35 job that I -will- like. No other work is needed or desired on this pistol.

Yes, knowing what I do now, I would definitely buy it again over any other 9mm. I would like a USP in 9mm but I'm sure it would not be a better pistol in the accuracy department. Maybe equal at best. I've got one of those in .45 and I like it a lot but I can be more accurate at 25 yards with the CZ.

If you find a friend that has one and will let you try it out I think you will like it.

The CZ-75 in .40S&W is also quite accurate, I can currently get 10shots into the 9 and bull/X ring of an ISSF rapid fire target at 25m using two hands, standing. But I am sure I can improve on that over time !

The trigger is OK for a service pistol both DA and SA, the SA has a creep for an instant and then it goes sharpish. I find this useful in precision but do not feel it in rapid fire on EG plates...no time to worry I suppose!

I would recommend anyone who likes a good quality firearm at a sensible price to get one, but order 2 extra mags on purchase, as they appear difficult to get after-market.

Good shooting !
