The CZ75D Compact is an all steel pistol, unless it's specified to be alloy framed. Few alloy framed CZ75BD Compact entered the US before CZ USA pulled the plug, they simply didn't sell. People preferred the more common CZ75 Compact. The PCR, essentially a CZ75D Compact alloy frame except with night sights (which hardly glow) and fron slide serrations, is doing better in terms of sales. These can be had for $400 from J&G Sales. I'm sure others carry them too.
I've never liked the CZ75 Compact line. They do have a reputation for being finicky compared to their famed full size cousins. If you do a search you'll find quite a few threads on the CZ75 Compacts.
You really can't compare CZ75 Compacts to SIG Sauers. The P229 has a much nicer finish, the parts are polished and DA/SA pulls are smoother. Yet you're also not paying $689 for a CZ75 Compact either. The CZ75s are thinner, and their DA pull, due to different mechanisms, is quite nice. I'd shoot both and decide based on whatt fits better and what's more accurate for me.
Then there's the issue of preban mags. CDNN used to carry preban mags for the CZ75 Compact and sold them for $65. Last I heard they're out. You can use Springfield P9 and Tanfoglio/Witness, IMI/Tanfoglio mags, however. You just need to adjust the catch hole. These preban mags can be had for about $50. P229 preban 9mm mags are as rare as ice in the Sahara, and mags for the .40 are running well over a $100. I make no mention of ProMags or USA Mags as these have a spotty reputation.
