CZ SP-01 (tactical) or a CPO Sig P226?

It's not a matter of which one to choose, it really is a matter of which one to buy first!

I can't legally own 18 round magazines here, and I don't want 10 round mags if I can avoid them, so the SP-01 is out by default, and that stinks! The P226 is one of the few guns that I actually prefer in .40S&W over 9mm.

Sticking with 9mm, I'd go with my pre-Omega P-01, and my M11-A1!

Being in a state with similar magazine restrictions, 15 rounders are easily available for the CZ. My FFL that sold me my SP-01 swapped them in, and pinned the 18 rounders (some people want them over the 15s, probably due to the bumpers).

Personally, I prefer a new CZ over a CPO SIG. I feel that SIG's pricing is outrageous, and their CPO pricing should be their new pricing. CZ is a lot more bang for the buck, without having to buy a used gun.

I will say it depends on the model SIG (and I would want to look it over first... CPO or not), but I'm guessing a standard P226.

I have both SP01 and a couple P226s. Both are terrific but I prefer the P226 between the two. If you can find a nice CPO P226 at a good price and like the P226 that would be a great way to get into a P226.

Here is my P226 CPO I bought for $490 6-7 years ago with Mecgar 18 round magazine. I put some SIG aluminum grips (old style) on it and just love it. 18 round Mecgar flush fit magazines are usually found in the low $20 dollar range for the P226. I have put at least 5000 rounds through it never any sort of problem and never missed a beat with a wide range of ammo.

I have sold most of my Sigs (still have a P228) in favor of CZ's. I find them better balanced, more ergonomic, and more accurate for me with controls in the right place. They are also very tunable with Cajun Gun Works parts, but I have not found the need on mine as they were fine out of the box, and with a little break in.

CZ.

OP here. The CP0 226 sold out from midwest while I was mulling it over...So I bought the SP-01 tactical. They are $569 from DEguns right now-lowest I've seen for the decocker variant.

Will report back when I pick it up.

Thanks

You are not really out. The two are mostly a wash if the same price anyway. The Sig DA trigger is better than the CZ out of the box, but the CZ will break in to be eventually just as good. Even better with CGW parts on it. SA trigger will be a wash between the two. Slightly different feels, but both great.

I'm a fan of both. I am issued SIGs, but don't own any. Too rich for my blood, even though i love then. Price dictates that I am a CZ or Beretta man for my DA/SA needs.

The SP01 Tactical, for sure.

But only because I really want that model. :)

It comes with a rail and decocker only, both of which I like. But really, you can't go wrong either way!

I really want the Elite in stainless, so I'm glad I didn't get the standard CPO. It would have been sold later.

I imagine the SP-01 will please me until I break down and get the Elite too. Who knows, maybe this CZ will do it for me. :)

I was on the fence last week as well. Looked at both really want a Sig, but CZ SP 01 Tactical felt better to me went with CZ
