CZ Rami BD vs PCR for CCW

Hey everyone,

So I've decided to stick with the CZ platform for my carry gun. My HD/Range gun is the SP-01 Tactical and I love it so much that I see no reason to stray away from CZ.

My decision now is the Rami BD or the PCR.

I have the Ultra-Lite Self Defense Cajun Gun Works Kit in my SP-01 and it is spectacular. I'm not sure if I'd want it in my P-01 or Rami for carry but it turned my SP-01 into my dream gun. I don't even plan on finishing the rest of the Defensive Carry Package any time soon because it is shooting so smooth right now.

A few questions:

I held both the Rami and PCR in the shop today. The PCR definitely reminded me more of my SP-01 in terms of ergonomics. Regarding the grip, I love the stock grips on the PCR and SP-01, however, they are a bit thick. For carry would you suggest switching out the grips for something thinner?

Regarding Night Sights... I love the stock NS on my SP-01 Tactical. Can I get those same sights on a PCR? I prefer the larger size of the 3 dots on my SP-01, though I can work with the smaller ones for carry if I can get them in night sights.

Overall I really like both of them. If the Rami is significantly easier to conceal I'll probably get the Rami. But aside from a half inch in the grip height I really don't see it being that much smaller than the PCR.

Thanks.

I've owned and carried a 75D PCR since 2000. I am a big CZ fan also, having several pistols, so I considered adding a RAMI to my collection. I decided to stick with the PCR due to ergos, and that I shoot it so well. The RAMI isn't really that smaller, and is based on the CZ-40 pistol and I prefer the 75 grip to the 40's.

I carried the PCR, put it in a top notch rig and you're golden. My wife is VERY fond of her RAMI, but she carries it far less frequently. Good little pistol.

I turn 21 next month and I have been considering the same question. Having shot a CZ 75 as my primary pistol for over 3 years now, I am very much used to the double/single action CZ with a decocker. I am pretty much sold on the CZ P-01 in 9mm, though I am a little curious if I should go with the Urban Omega model since I do plan to get into suppressors at some point.

The pcr will feel more like the sp01. I personally carry a p01 and whole heartedly recommend different grips. That rubber is nice when shooting but grabs clothing something fierce. I replaced mine with g10 grips.

TruGlow sites come standard on the sp01 tactical and I agree that they are awesome. The sights are sold separately for the compacts but be aware that there are two different sized rear sights and at least on the p01, one does not know which sight is needed until the old sight is removed. The size is labeled on the under side of the sight. You can also just send the slide to CZ and let them install and sight it in. I will probably do this in a few months.

the Rami (safety model) and PCR are my primary carry pieces. IMO, *NOTHING* feels as good in the hand as the Rami with the 14 rd mag. Also, with the 14 rd mag, the weight feels IN the hand, not out front at all. I like that. That, however, makes the grip about the same size as the PCR. The Rami carries a little easier for me, but is just as accurate. Personally, I LIKE the rubber factory grips on the PCR. Nice, tacky feel, no slippage. I like the Rami sights much better than those on the PCR. The rear sights are adjustable for elevation and windage. It'd be a HARD decision if I was told that I had to pick just one. People often refer to the Rami as The Chunky Monkey and I say bullcrap to that. There are many carry pistols out there that are just as thick, especially if you're talking about a double stack. Glock gets a lot of ink with their 26. It's a good gun and I've had one, but IMO the Rami is better all 'round.....and a whole lot better looking!
