I have been luking for awhile now and decided to finally post.

I found a used 243 for my wife it is a CZ Model VZ24 I have been looking around for any history on the gun or what it might be worth but I am striking out. Any info would be appriciated.

Interesting. A vz-24 is a WWII 8mm rifle, so it's been rechambered/rebarreled sometime in the past to be a .243. Collector value would be nil if bubba'ed.
I'd go with new for a first rifle.

that is why I can not find any information on it. I have a VZ 550 varmit in 308 and love it. So I thought that another CZ would be good and he only wants $200 dollars for it so I thought that would be a nice gun for the wife to step up a little from the 22lr.

The stock and barrel look very new. The stock is perfect condition and does not have a scratch on it.

The VZ24 was pretty much a mauser 98 action. I have an israeli mauser in 7.62 nato built on a VZ24. They used mostly german parts including a bent wide arc bolt. Doing a sporter build on a VZ24 you can use anything meant for a K98. Because it is the same receiver. Your gun shop find is basically a rebuild using a large ring mauser receiver. It may or may not be a quality built rifle. Some custom mausers are amazing. While others are hacked up, mangled aberrations. You have to judge them case by case.
I would look at the barrel. Especially the rifling right at the end of the muzzle for wear and nicks on the crown. Another thing I would look at is the bolt and safety. The VZ24 had a straight bolt which along with the safety would hit a scope. So more than likely they are a replacement or modification of the original bolt. The last thing I would look at would be the stock. It might be a refinished military stock or an aftermarket replacement.
Collector value would be nil if bubba'ed.
It's no longer a military rifle. It would in my mind be compared to current production rifles like model 70s or CZ 550s at a discount.
So I thought that another CZ would be good and he only wants $200 dollars for it
This may have originally made in czechoslovakia but it wasn't rebuilt by CZ. So I wouldn't think of them as one and the same. You really just need to investigate what they did to build this rifle and then determine if it would be a good shooter.

not really set on the gun. I was not wanting to spend over $600 for the wife's new gun because I don't know how much she will shoot.

I, for one do like custom guns, have alot of them, some built on CZ actions... & $200.00 is a very reasonable price, if the custom work was done by a qualified person... if the workmanship is awefull, then it's no value at any price...

my suggestion, is to put it next to a manufactured gun of similar style & compare them to each other... it's very possible the custom rifle could be nicer than guns 4-5 times it's price, but also could be a cobbeled up piece of crud... you should be able to tell by comparing it with another known "good" rifle.

.243 was not a stock bore, so the barrel had to be replaced, does the barrel look nice, is it blued nicely ??? or is it duller & just "blackened" ??? if the blueing doesn't look nice, it could just have been cold blued, & could come off / look worn very easily... it could also be duracoated or some other "paint" type coating ( that's not necessarliy a bad thing )??? does the stock look nice ??? or is it dented & beat up like a reshaped milsurp stock ??? how is the trigger??? tougher to pull military trigger, or does it have a smooth crisp breaking trigger like it has been replaced with a nice adjustable aftermarket trigger ??? bolt handle bent or straight ??? of coarse this type of work could have been done from any varrying degree, from a hack job, to a beautyful custom rifle... best way to tell what you're looking at, is to directly compare it to a known "good" gun

I looked at the gun closely last night. It has a really nice lamenate stock that looks brand new. The barrel is not "blued" but some other dull black coating. It has scope rings on it but the bolt is straight I think it will hit the scope if you ever mounted one on it. So I think I will have to pass on this one.
