CZ Kadet vs Ciener 1911 -- Which .22 Kit?

I'm consolidating my pistols in a big way. Soon enough, I'm going to have only a CZ 75B and a Kimber 1911.

(That is, if I can find somebody to take my lovely S&W 29 off my hands ;))

I was all set to get a Kadet adapter for my CZ but then I realized that there are kits out there for the 1911. So which one? I've heard very good things about the Kadet but I don't love the idea that you have to do "minor fitting" sometimes. Do you have to do this for 1911 conversions too?

The Ciener kit and the Kadet are both around $200. How much more is the Marvel kit? Their site is down...

I have both.

The CZ is better fitting, more reliable and a better thought out design.

The so called fitting is a non issue.

With the CZ Kadet the slide is locked to the frame with the slide lock. Within the slide is another slide that is activated by blowback.

In order to "fit" my Kadet to my CZ all I did was use a piece of fine sand paper on a popsicle stick and polish the lug that has a hole in it which the slide lock passes through. Took about five passes with a very fine paper to get a perfect fit.

My Ciener is very finicky about ammo, the Kadet eats everything.

I have nothing that isn't positive to say about the Kadet Kit. When installed on my CZ75B it is the best of any 22 pistol I have used. Regards, Richard

I have a Kadet kit and love it, but I think you're asking the wrong question.

Which of the two guns will you shoot more, and which do you need to practice more with?

I use my Kadet kit to practice for IDPA, and it works beautifully on my CZ-85 Combat. But if I were focusing on CDP (1911 pistol) competition, I'd give serious though to buying a Ciener Kit (or, better yet, a Marvel unit -- which costs quite a bit more, but which offers match-grade accuracy.)

The Marvel kit cost me about $400 and change with a couple of extra mags, but it is well worth it. The thing feeds everything and is incredibly accurate.

My Kadet on my CZ-75B is a joy to shoot. It's accurate as heck and I've never had any problems with it except for cheap dud .22LR.

Of course, I love shooting my CZ-75 and that might have something to do with it. As Walt suggested above, it would make sense to equip your favorite shooter since you will be shooting a lot of .22LR through it since it's cheap.

I plan on buying a Marvel kit to use with my Sistema also. It seems preferrable to the Ceiner since it is supposed to use a smaller bolt like the Kadet instead of trying to make the little .22 move the entire slide. However, Marvel's website seems to be down for the time being.

I'll throw in with the CZ Kadet kit. I have a Ciener for my Beretta 92FS and it works great too, it does not lock back after the last shot and Ciener "customer service" is not a happy place to be.
The Ciener works great and is wonderfully accurate as is the Kadet. IF you go with the Ciener plan to buy only hi-vel. ammunition, it does not like std. vel. ammo. The Kadet is better made, eats everything I have fed it and really makes the gun feel like the real deal due to it's weight...it's the beefy'st kit you will find!

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to go with the Kadet.

Walt, I'm not going to compete with either pistol, so this is just my way of getting a .22 in the mix. Good point though.

Shmackey, you can't go wrong with the Kadet, especially for the price. Enjoy it!

Steeleye, thanks for the updated URL for Marvel Products!
