So what's the deal with these CZ handguns. I have been reading about them. People have a lot of good things to say about them. Are they good guns. How much are they. I have seen that they are in the $350 price range. Is this true. What do you guys think of them?

I have a CZ 75B "military" and a CZ 75 Compact, both in 9mm. Both are fine pistols and very accurate. I got the 75B "mil" for $299 new in the box. The Compact ran somewhere around $380 I think. The CZ 75B "Military" is, in my opinion, the best gun for the money as far as new guns go. The only thing that comes close in the "bang for the buck" category would be used Glocks.

Here's a picture of my 75B "military" with a set of hand made birchwood Grips by Hakan in Norway. Czexy!!!:D

not a cz 85!!!!!!!

I guess I am the odd ball. I have had nothing but problems with mine. At first I had a feed problem (at least 2 in every mag). I have now got it down to 2 or 3 out of 200 rds or so. not good enough for me. I have talked to CZ (they are easy to get hold of), and I have sent the gun back. Still hav the same problem. I have had the ramp polished, I replaced the slide stop spring and have recieved new mags with different followers. I GIVE UP. I believe I have shot it for the last time today. I am going to sell it and get a sig 226.

Great Guns

I have a CZ 75b SA and couldn't be more pleased. It is very well made. I also own a Glock 23 and a Kimber Custom II. The CZ is more accurate than either one. I agree with Rainbow Six - one of the best guns out there for the money.

After about 400 rounds my Military has just developed ejection failures. This is a known problem with the Military guns, and CZ-USA is quick to fix it. I'll be calling them on Monday to have the parts shipped out.

Still my favorite 9mm, though.

Does anybody have one of the .45 ACP CZ guns? I think it is the CZ97 maybe...What is your opinion of this gun??? I see that it holds 10 rounds in the mag so I assume it is a double stack. How many would a law enforcement mag hold?

I have a CZ 97, which is chambered in .45, and much to my amazement there are no LEO mags. 10 rounds is what the gun was desinged for. I don't understand why they did this, as a Para-Ordinance P-14 is comprable in size yet holds a few more rounds, why couldn't the gun have been designed to hold more rounds?

It is a great gun, but I still find myself wanting to kick those engineers at CZ.

Glock Glocker,

If I were to venture a guess, I'd say that the CZ 97B was designed for the US civilian market and it's affinity for the .45, therefore I'm not surprised by the 10-rounds only. Like I said, just a guess.

I do remember Jeff Cooper writing that the CZ 97B wasn't the gun he had hoped for, but I'm happy with the one I have. :)

I talked to a guy yesterday who served with U.N. Police force in
Bosnia. He said the force there used the CZ75 and liked them.
He said that there is .22 slide that can go on that model as well.
And with a suppreser they would go out at night and do what they called social work.

I have 2ea 75Bs and an 85 Combat. All have been great. I shot Joe Klugs 97 and liked it a lot. It is large and heavy however.

There is a .22 lr conversion unit for CZ 75 called CZ 75 kadet. It includes a barrel, slide and a 10 round magazine.

I love my CZ.

I bought a 75 Mil as my first handgun. Its been great. Accurate, reliable, etc... I have only had one problem, and that was feeding Wolf ammo. So I will just not use Wolf ammo. Everything else feeds fine.

I like my CZ so much, i am thinking about starting a CZ collection. My next piece will be the 52.

Why not stuff a few more rounds in and you could capitalize on the LEO market and us serfs would still have a 10 + 1 pistol? A piece that size can easily be designed to hold more rounds, look at a P-14, so why did they go the gelded route?

The CZ-97 is not really a newly designed gun. It is a beefed up version of the standard CZ-75. EAA has built a .45 version of the gun for many years which is very similar. (I have a Witness Sport Long Slide in .45 acp. Nice gun.) Except for the dust cover being slightly different, the guns look very similar.

The mags for the Witness and the CZ-97 are both 10 rounders. There is NO ROOM in those mags for any more rounds -- even with different followers or different springs. More rounds would mean building a bigger or wider grip, or having a mag that sticks out too far.

Some folks don't like the P-14 grip; feel it is too big. That may be one of the trade-offs of larger capacity guns.

The 97 is a whopper. It definitely fills my hand.

If you can't do it with 10+1 45s you are in deep kimchi anyways. With the 97 you can beat the hell out of them with it after the 11 are gone.:D

During the last two years CZs have become my favorite brand of pistols. I started out with a 75B Military, added a Kadet .22LR conversion kit, picked up a Compact, a PCR for the wife and then a 97. They are all fantastic guns. Can't think of one bad thing to say about any of them.

That being said, the 97 is my favorite of them all. Yes, it's big and somewhat heavy. It's also the most accurate pistol I own, bar none. Only one pistol goes to the range with me every time and that is the 97. It's just a pleasure to shoot.

I can highly recommend the CZ line. I'm certainly hooked on them.

Joe
