CZ for me?

Looking to finally buy a CZ 75B. My fave shoppe has two 9mms with satin nickel finish, one full size, one compact. They both feel great in the hand, similar triggers, etc. At the moment I am leaning towards the full size as I do not think I will carry it and full capacity mags are readily available. However, not being knowledgable about CZs, I wonder if the compact have some unseen advantages over the full size (more reliable, better balance, easier to clean?). Guessing not but as I said, I have no previous experience with CZs. All comments welcome.

SUGGESTION

Acquire the full-size version; it is the original design and as such is likely to be more reliable than the shorter version.

From what I can tell from participating on various forums, including the new CZ Forum, reliability, etc., is not an issue with the new compact/pcr versions of the gun.

If you think you're not likely to carry, then hi-cap mags aren't really an issue. Nor is size.

I've had a CZ-75B and now shoot a CZ-85 Combat. I loved both guns, but the 85 combat is my favorite. (I sold the 75B after I got the 85 Combat, as it simply wasn't shooting it.)

I've since gotten the Kadet (.22) conversion/adapter kit for the guns, and I think it works on the PCR, too. Great fun, very, very accurate, and it lets you shoot CHEAPLY!

Hi-Caps from Promag are still available at a very reasonable price for the full-size gun, and they work fine.

The other gun you might consider is the new CZ-40. May find it at a similar price. Picture a CZ slide on a variant 1911 frame. (I think, but am not sure, it is SA/DA.)

Another opinion: for a house gun, I think hi-caps would be more desirable. Home invaders often come in multiples.

I agree. I was thinking more in terms of "range gun," than house gun when I suggested that size and mag capacity isn't really that important.

I don't really want to keep a loaded shotgun handy -- and that's the best house gun, I think -- so I keep a 1911 with 10 round magazine full of Golden Sabres in a small gun safe near the bed. A spare mag, too. And a bright flashlight. (I ought to keep my electronic ear protection there, too, but I tend to leave it in my range bag

Though capacity shouldn't be an issue in this case, it is. I will not own a pistol I cannot get full capacity mags for. If the thing was designed for x many rounds then the bloody thing is gonna hold x many rounds. :D

These CZs are fantastic!

Until 2 weeks ago I had never bothered to look at a CZ and a friend brought one of their slick catalogs to the range. We spent about 30 minutes looking through it discussing the pros and cons of the various models available (their are a lot of choices!).

We narrowed his choice down to the CZ75B SA or the CZ85 Combat. I narrowed my choices down to the CZ75 Champion and the CZ75 Standard IPSC.

I ended up with one of the Champions in 9mm and it has fulfilled my expectations. I already have over 1000 rounds of factory ammo through the gun with ZERO malfunctions...ZERO. Absolutely incredible.

The accuracy of this gun, even with the 100 round bulk pack Winchester 9mm from WalMart, is about an inch at 50 feet off bags...that is 10 shot groups! That is consistent groups when I do my part. Hard to believe but true.

If the other CZ firearms perform half as well as mine I would say you will smile all the way to the bank and at the range, too.

I have tried both, found that the full size Cz75 was more comfortable to fire, guess it is a matter of personal preference..

Seem to be posting a lot today- Maybe it is the fun of being new to the forum- It gets addictive..:) :)

.

I have both a Full size 75b and a PCR. They are both absolutely reliable and incredibly accurate. One is just shorter and lighter. Pick the one that makes your heart sing the most if you don't have to carry it much.

Then buy a .22 kadet conversion kit.

You will be happy!

cz 75

I have a 75 compact. I tried a compact and a full size at the range when I bought it and just shot the compact better. Its still the most accurate pistol Ive ever used. Take a look. Duo-tone.

Ingredients for a great afternoon:

Step 1) 1 part bad weather outside.

Step 2) 1 FULL SIZE CZ75B.

Step 3) 1 well lit indoor range.

Step 4) 6 Orange silhouettes and 10 bullseyes.

Step 5) 3 boxes of Wal-Mart purchased Winchester USA 9mm's (100 for $11.00).

Mix all five agressively and enjoy with a cigar.

Gotta be the full size... nothing puts lots of little holes inside of small circles like the big one does...
