CZ Experts: Tell me...

...is the trigger pull on the CZ 75B SA (single-action) better than the single-action pull on the regular CZ 75B?

Does the SA cost more?

If not, then the only major differences appear to be the trigger shape and grips. I was all set to get a 75B SA but then it occurred to me that the regular 75B could be a more flexible, useful pistol with the same trigger pull as long as the hammer's cocked.

The pistol, for me, is not for carry or use on non-paper entities.

I'm not a CZ expert, nor do I play one on TV, but it's hard for me to imagine a nicer single action trigger pull than on my SA/DA Turkish Mil surplus CZ75B without gunsmith work. The trigger is very smooth through the first bit of take up, then I feel a slight hitch. When I increase the pressure at that point, the trigger breaks cleanly. These guns would still be an excellent value even if they cost another $100 to $150.

I have both. Either gun is very nice. The SA does have an upswept beavertail that gives a nicer feel to the grip. I think the SA has a lighter trigger pull do to having a lighter hammer spring, which you could also install on the standard model. Cost of the SA for me was $379.

No expert here,

but, my personal preference is to the SA's straight trigger instead of the standard CZ curved one. With hammer cocked the travel is about the same, but, the SA is a tad lighter in pull since it isn't equipped with a disconnector.

I have also redesigned the firing pin safety safety system in the past few weeks for both the SA and the CZ97. The results drop another 1/2 to 3/4 pound from the pull. I am torture testing it now. So far, so good.

The SA is the same price as a regular 75b.

One experience, yes. Expert, ba ha ha ha, not even!

I have only shot one S/A and it did have a better trigger than the other 75's I have shot...including my compact and others. Lighter
pull weight and very, very smooth. Shoot well

Shoot me an e-mail, and I'll let you fire a few of my CZs. I don't have an SA, unfortunately, but the stock trigger on most CZs is pretty good, and I've heard it can be easily made very nice.

I'll let you know Monday...

When I pick my SA up. The SA trigger is smoother than the stock SA/DA triggers and I prefer the flat trigger. It is also adjustable for take-up and over travel. The SA generally runs about $40 - $50 more than the standard 75.

Although the SA is marketed as being adjustable for takeup and overtravel, it is only adjustable for overtravel. To get both adjustments you will need a Champion trigger.
