CZ / EAA Witness Question

I see on the CZ-USA.com website a pistol named CZ 75 B SA, the SA for single action. I thought the typical/traditional CZs as well as the EAA Witness clones (they are CZ clones, aren't they?) could all be carried cocked and locked, hence single action. Would someone please enlighten me. Also, is the CZ .40 pistol a winner? I see they only make one, and it's big. I wish they, or EAA, would make an aluminum-framed .40.

Since we are on the subject, does anyone have a preference for CZ over EAA or the other way around?

CZs are generally better finished and higher quality. The SA version is single action ONLY, not their standard DA/SA with cocked & locked option. The CZ40B is supposed to be a good gun, too, and is mechanically very similar to to a CZ-75B .40S&W.

I've owned both and like the CZ-75B better than the EAA clones.
 
Good day. The CZ line up are all generally d/a-s/a and are capable of cocked and locked carry, like a s/a gun. Other action types are offered..the SAO 75 b you refer to and also the CZ 100
is DAO. The witness line of clones (yes, clones) are the same action type. The safety setup is different from the various clones and CZ's. Tanfoglio of Italy makes most of the clone guns frame and slide combinations. Springfield, EAA, Sphinx and others are good copies with some being better than others.

The 40 was a CZ made contract gun for Colt. It is rumored the gun was dropped from the Colt lineup when the company fell on hard times. CZ kept it going and offered the CZ40B, which is basically the same slide and mechanicals as the 75-85 series with
the 1911 grip style and angle. It already has an alloy frame and is smaller than the full size 75-85 guns. It is lighter by quite a bit than the fullsize guns w/steel frames. CZ has a Compact CZ40B in the works and will be releases soon.
As far as how the 40 works? It is a great gun...it was up for "gun of the year" status in couple of the bigger gun rags.
Very accurate, well balanced and dependable...what more could you want..all priced very reasonably.
