CZ-97B vs. EAA Witness in .45 ACP

How do they compare?

I trust the quality of workmanship and reliability of a CZ-made firearm.

However, the Witness is cheaper and the grip circumference seems to be smaller (a plus for me).

Is Witness still considered a little iffy or is it now a considered on a par with major gunmakers as a producer of reliable handguns?

I have a 9mm Witness that is so-so reliable with JHP, and 99% relialble w/ FMJ, so I don't trust it and don't use it. I understand Gun Tests have not found a .45 Witness that they can recommend yet, and I think they've tested a couple over the years.

I have CZ97B which is an outstanding pistol in all respects. The Winesses I have seen do not seem as well made, reliable or accurate.

Have you thought about the IMI/Magnum Research Baby Eagle 45? It's built from Tanfoglio (they make the Witness) and IMI parts but I think IMI QC makes it a better pistol. Check them out at www.magnumresearch.com

So many pistols, so little money.

I have a Witness.45 and have had nothing but good results with it. I have handled the CZ97b but it was too big to fit comfortably in my hand. I have put nearly 1000 rounds through mine without 1 stoppage. IMHO Tanfoglio QC is pretty good, but EAA is pretty poor. My friend has the 10mm and has no failures through it with over 1000 rounds through it. Mike
