CZ 75D PCR vs. Glock 19

After researching what I want for my next carry pistol, I have narrowed it down to the above two firearms. I am very impressed with Glock's record and the amazing loyalty of its owners. On the other hand, I have read very good things about the CZ line of pistols as well. I know that Glocks are practically indestructable but have shot some in the past and find they shoot low for me (grip angle compared to my 1911's and HiPowers). They are also "blocky" for carry. The CZ 75 D is also a great gun but I wonder about the availability of parts, etc. in future. Any input any of you can give me to push me in one direction or the other will be appreciated! (I can only afford one!) :)

CZ or Glock?

I have both and they are both fine fine guns in accuracy and reliability. I prefer the CZ because the not only look a heck of a lot better but the grip is absolutely perfect. it fits my hand perfectly and makes me feel like I could shoot the wings of a housefly at 30 feet. CZ-USA is a great company in terms of customer service and I expect they will be around for a long time.

The glock is a little lighter and is smaller in the sense that the grip is a little less wide for CCW. It also (with expensive prebans) carries 15 round in the space that the compact CZ's carry 10 and preban 13 round mags for the compacts are extremely rare and expensive.

I absolutely love the trigger on the CZ's You can also buy the best .22 conversion kit available for a pistol and it's factory CZ. This is worth every penny of it's $200 to $250 price. It's way better than the ciener Glock .22 kit.

The man reason for CZ's dominance for me is I think the glocks are ugly and the triggers are too light for my comfort.

I don't have the PCR, but have shot one; ditto the Glock 19.

I have had a Glock 17 and still have a CZ-85 Combat.

I'd say try them both and buy whichever feels best in your hand. (If you can shoot both, take that into consideration, as well.)

I love CZs and I really like Glocks.

That Glocks are "butt ugly" should NOT be considered into it: function, not form is what you're concerned about.

Glocks are light, easy to shoot, and nearly indestructible. If they fit your hand well -- they don't fit some hands -- they're hard to beat. The CZ is heavier and also nearly indestructible. They don't fit some hands, too -- a very long trigger reach.

As with Shirokuma, I find that the grip of the CZ is PERFECT. I was debating between a PCR and a Glock 19 and I chose the PCR. The main attraction for me was the grip of the CZ and I also liked the extended mag release on the PCR. Really, I don't think you can go wrong with either pistol, but since you said you shoot poorly with the Glock the CZ might be the better option.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your good advice. Walt: is the trigger reach on the compact CZ75's as long as on the full-size models (I hope that's not a dumb question! :) )

With regard to reach on the PCR vs. full size. I'm not sure, but I think so. They reduced the size of the gun by shortening the frame and height of the grip, but I don't think they changed anything else. You might try asking this question on the CZ-Forum ( http://www.czforum.com ). I'm sure someone there will know, as several of the regular participants there have both weapons.

Yep

Yep, the trigger reach is the same. I own a full size 75B, and have played extensively with the PCR. I think out of the box, the trigger pull might be a tad lighter on the PCR than the 75B, partially due to the lightweight hammer (I believe).

The PCR fits MY hand TONS better, and I may consider one when I'm looking into a CCW in the distant future (also there may be many other choices at that time - Steyr S series, single stack 9mm Glock (wishful thinking)).

Good luck with your choice. It's a toughie!

Of note: I hear that Glock 19 holsters fit the PCR nicely, and aftermarket night sights are not yet availabe for the PCR (if that's an issue).

I own them both and the nod goes to the Glock 19 for one reason. The Glock 19 holds 15 rounds vs 10 for the politically correct PRC. If I had some 13 round magazines for the PRC I would then throw a coin in the air. I like both of these pistols that well. Choose which ever shoots best for you and feels best in your hand.

Regards,

Richard

PS If you guys like the grip on the PRC with the factory rubber grips you owe it to yourself to try/buy a set of factory wood grips for it.
