Does anybody know anything about the CZ75B retro. seen one on gunbroker, what is different on this pistol? Terry

From a Champion Firearms blurb:

"The new limited edition CZ 75B Retro has the short frame of the very early CZ 75s, the rounded trigger guard, and the original spur hammer. The grips look very similar to the early black plastic "waffle" grips, but they're aluminum. It also has the flattened and serrated slide top, when the early models had a rounded top. Unlike like the originals, the 'B' designation is an indicator that the model is equipped with a firing pin block safety to prevent firing if the weapon is dropped onto its muzzle."

And here's a good close-up pic:

I didn't know they had re-introduced the RETRO... It seemed to me to be the best of both worlds: the looks of the traditional CZ-75 and the warranty and easy parts availability of the "B" model. (I had NOT heard about the aluminum grips...) If I was thinking about a new CZ, now, THAT would be the one I'd get.

I missed out the last time they did a run of the Retros.

While the pre-B models (which the Retro LOOKS like) typically had great triggers, the B models can be tuned to that same (or near same) level of trigger. (The firing pin block adds a little extra stuff that must be overcome.)

That's a nice looking pistol! It's refreshing to see a pistol without a clunky rail on the bottom of the frame.

As someone mentioned, trigger guard and hammer are different. The biggest difference is the short frame rails. The CZ-75B has a 3/4 frame rail and some of the newer CZ variants, like the SP-01 have full length rails.

Definately one nice lookin' CZ. I've divested myself from most things 9mm, but this one is very tempting indeed.

I came across a CZ-75 Retro model in a large gun shop a year or so ago IIRC. It looked so much like the previous Pre-B CZ-75s I'd owned, round trigger guard, spur hammer, etc, that I bought it on the spot. It displayed the usual 100% reliability expected with CZs. It did have a couple features I didn't care for. The trigger has been subtly reshaped, and seemed to give my trigger finger an uncomfortable "slap" with each shot. Something that I'd not experienced with the Pre-B guns. Also, the lower right rear area of the slide has the good sized rectangular hole common to the B series guns with the firing pin safety. The Pre-B guns do not have this hole and it just never looked quite right to me. Anyway, good guns, IMHO, that definitely do look retro........

BTW, I didn't care for the really retro short frame rails either...

I guess I am never satisfied. I really don't like the short frame rails of the Retro model, but love the rounded trigger guard, and spur hammer. Guess I'll just keep my regular 75B.

I like the retro look too.

I wish they had the option standard on most pistols to boot. If most people don't use one it's just taking up space anyway.

I saw a retro at a LGS a couple of weeks ago. I liked the way it looked but I resisted the urge to fondle it. I had just bought a CZ75BD about an hour earlier at a different shop...

I am glad CZ still keeps their classic, all steel, and alloy framed pistols available WITHOUT a rail. However, I do like the SP-01, and P-01. I know the trend is polymer, and they have embraced that with the inclusion of rails, but they are just keeping up with the times I guess. As long as they continue to offer their classics, I will continue to buy them.
