CZ 75B trigger and mag questions...

Hi all. I recently picked up a very nice specimen. I am wondering if has had a trigger job and how you can tell? DA pull is about 9 lbs and SA about 7. Smooth as can be and better than any Omega I tried. I was honestly surprised the SA was that much because of how good the DA is. Good enough that i may not mess with it though.

Also I think I read about a way to reduce the length of trigger pull? I have small hands and if there is a complaint at all that would be it.

In the first 200 rounds it had one failure. It was the trigger reset. I set that mag aside and it ran fine on the rest. While dry firing I found the one magazine doesn't allow the trigger to fully reset for some reason. It appears the follower sticks up a little more than the others. Is there a remedy for that? Thank you.

Does the hammer move to the rear slightly when its cocked and you pull the trigger? (That's called "camming".) If it doesn't, it may have had some trigger work done -- but the prior owner kept the stock (heavier) hammer springs in place. I doubt it's had a trigger job, but it does sound "broken in." (The triggers smooth out with 300+ rounds or dry-fires.)

You can lighten the trigger weight by getting lighter hammer springs, either from Wolff, the CZ Custom Shop, or Cajun Gun Works. That will make a big difference.

There's no SIMPLE way to reduce the trigger pull length -- it's a characteristic of the CZ design. But there are parts available from the CZ Custom Shop or Cajun Gun Works that can shorten the pull, and you can also install the trigger from a PCR or P-01, which is more curved...

You can also start from the half-cock notch (which is where all of the decocker models start form.) That both shortens the DA trigger pull and lightens it a little. It is a safe way to start, but if you shoot IDPA or USPSA, it's not an allowed starting position. (Many folks carry on the half-cock notch. The safety cannot be engage at that trigger position...)

Trigger reset problems are generally not caused by mag issues and I can't think of any way, off hand, that the mag could affect trigger reset -- UNLESS you've got a non-CZ (clone?) mag. If the mag is a bit too wide, it could rub against the trigger bar. Check the sides of THAT mag to see if there are friction/rub marks. Try sanding it if you see marks, to smooth it up a bit.

Mec-Gar makes the factory mags, and you can buy new ones that are almost identical to factory mags from Mec-Gar for about half the factory mag price.

I'm surprised both by how high the SA pull is and how low the DA pull is.

I have a couple of CZ75Bs and both of them have (unmodified) SA pulls of about 4lbs (one is 4lbs, the other 4lbs 5oz). I've only measured the DA pull on one of them--it registers a little over 12lbs. The other one feels very similar.

Walt..Yes it does cam a little on SA. Thank you.

John... Those are according to my trusty fish scale. I may take to my smith for a real read out. I am surprised too by the closeness of the readings.
