CZ 75B or Browning Hi-Power Practical

I'm looking for my next 9mm, and I'm looking for something that's accurate at the range; I'm not going to carry it, so size/weight don't matter. I've got a Beretta 92 Elite II that I just love :p, but have been watching you all talk about the CZ 75B and BHP a lot. So, without discussing 'value' (CZ wins), which of these two is more accurate? I'm looking for a tack-driver here.

(Follow up question - in case I've missed the boat, what is the most accurate production 9mm available? Glock 34 fans need not answer. Yes, they're great, but I just can't warm up to them.)

Thanks

I think "out of the box" the CZ is more accurate and reliable. I love the CZ75 and the Browning HiPower. If I had to make a choice and I had the money I would get a HiPower and get it customized a bit by Novak. If I only had about $500 I would get the CZ and a set of nice wood grips and night sights for it. To me it would all depend on the money I had available. But they are both fine weapons with the HiPower have more "sex" appeal to me.

Get the Browning. CZ's are nice but I would spend $200 more on a Browning myself. They fit my hand better.

As far as accuracy goes, I'd say it is too close to call. I've shot the CZ75 and own several stock Hi-Powers and they all were close enough together that there was only minor variation between the pistols in accuracy.

I don't personally own one; but from the talk I've seen on TFL I'd be surprised if you didn't see several votes for the SIG P-210 as the most accurate production 9mm.

Where do they charge $500 for a CZ????

I bought mine NIB with tax for under $345 here in Texas.
WHere the heck do you guys live?

I have found that with the size hands I am stuck with, the BHP fits me better. You should be able to get a nice CZ for $369 in the PRK (California) and probably cheaper in most every other state in the Union. Don't get me wrong, I like CZ's fine but if I were looking for a 9mm like you describe, I'd go for the BHP. Then I would get a CZ.

If you amortize the extra $100 or $200 over 20 years, it's not much.

All in all, you really can't go worng with either of your selections. Good luck!:D

For me the 1911 style is the only way to go. My first pick would be the Browning. From what I've heard from friends that have CZ's they like them. I never could get over the slim slide though.

Sig 210

If you have the money, the Sig 210 would be my top choice. If you want to spend less, then get the CZ or Browning. I find CZ's to be more accurate out of the box than Brownings, but other shooters get opposite results. Both are great pistols, it all really comes down to preference. I prefer the CZ, but until you try both you won't know what YOU prefer. Who knows, you might like the Browning better after trying both out....

BrooksTexas, there are CZs available all over the price map

You can get a CZ to make you happy from a little over 300 bucks to $1200 dollars if you want.

As for a comparison between the CZ and the Browning High Power, if the BHP is one of the pre-Portuguese models done in Belgium I would definitely get it. Accuracy will be comparable to a CZ. I wouldn't own a BHP otherwise.

I have a CZ 75b and just got a BHP. I can't tell any diff in accuracy. Both great guns.
Well, I have both too, and mine both seem to be equally accurate.

The biggest difference is grip size: I find the BHP to be a smaller grip, and because mine is a large hand, the CZ seems to fit better.
(The difference, here, could be remedied with different grips for the BHP.)

Also, the trigger on my CZ-75B, in single action, was lighter than the BHP, out of the box -- but slightly less crisp.

I'm going to have the mag safety removed from the BHP this week, and that would, I'm told, improve the trigger. (Plus also give me drop free mags, a needed enhancement for IDPA competition.)

While both are good guns,

I would opt for the Browning HP Practical.
Beautifully crafted, they are getting real
hard to find, in my area. I bought one NIB
back in October of 98, for the sum of
$399.88 + tax; same gun today, at the same
shop is $649.95.

Current local price on the Practicals in my area are $529 for the one with fixed sites , $559 for adj. sites. I actually like the grips on the CZ better.

The Final Answer:

No appreciable difference in accuracy between the two; try each one and see which one I like better.

Thanks for all of your answers!!
