CZ-75b hitting low?

I just bought a CZ-75b 9mm Turk model from J+G Sales. The gun came as advertised - NIB, hard case, one 10rnd, one 15rnd mag, loader, cleaning rod and brush, etc.. It has decent fit and finish, cycled 100rnds without a hitch, and groups resonably well. The problem is it shoots about 2-3 inches low at 10 yards. Has anyone else had this problem with one of these pistols? If so, how was it fixed? Just to make sure it wasn't me, I shot my .40cal also, and was dead on with it. Could this change after some break-in? This is a nice pistol, and if I could remedy this problem I would be very happy with it. The trigger was pretty good "out of the box" I'm thinking I have to get a taller rear sight from CZ. Any help would be appreciated - georgestrings

georgestrings, try shooting your cz from a rest to make sure it is shooting low. If it still is contact mike the gunsmith at cz and see if you can send the slide in to get a taller rear sight installed under warranty. If want to just get another sight, remove yours and there is a number on the underside, that way you can tell what size rear sight you have. Maybe cz will just send you the correct sight. Mark

I have the same problem with my cz75 (1988). I picked mine up in like new codition (maybe this is why I got a good deal on it). Except mine seems worse. Close to 8" low at 25 metres! Believe it or not. I have experimented with many different loads netting the same result, give or take an inch.

I am trying to find some adjustable sights for the older model, that do not require a smith to install. Otherwise it groups very nicely. I even improvised my own targets with a bullseye 8 inches lower than my point of aim, so I can still practice until I find replacement sights.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to bench rest it today - just to make sure. It hit the same spot with Win and CCI 115gr for both, which is what I want to shoot with this gun, so I'm pretty sure a taller rear sight is in order. I was able to shoot my .40 well at the same time, so I'm pretty sure it's the gun and not me. Still, I'll bench rest it today, just to make sure, before I call CZ tomorrow. Hopefully, replacing the sight won't be too much of a problem, because I don't want to send the gun anywhere. - georgestrings

Try many different types of ammo and have other people, who can also shoot, try it. If there is a consistant problem. CZUSA will be more than happy to help you and your guns problem.
CZ's really are great guns and are very accurate from the factory but things happen. It sucks when they happen to YOU....you know what I mean? My Compact had more bugs in it than I can pass on to you in this post....I was patient and worked them out.
Its one of my all time fav's now. Let us know what you find out.
Shoot well

The adjustable sight available with the Kadet and CZ-85 Combat will work with the CZ-75B and can be ordered directl from CZ. They're pricey, but seem to be durable and effective.

It might be easier to call the CZ gunsmith and see if there is a replacement rear sight that is a bit higher...

Thanks for the replies...

...everyone, I benched the 75b turk today, and it is indeed shooting 2-3 inches low at 10 yards. I'll call CZ tomorrow and see what they say. I'd like to stay with fixed sights, because of the compactness and durability they offer. Hopefully, it'll be no big deal to change it out for a taller one. I've put 250rnds through it so far, and it hasn't bobbled yet- if I can raise the point of impact about 3 inches, I'll be good to go. That way, I could always use a 6 o'clock hold if I end up a little high. I'll let you know how I make out - georgestrings

georgestrings, my military has a # 4 rear sight. Mike at cz told me a while back that most the military cz's he's seen are #3 rear sights. So you probably will have get yours out to find out what rear sight you have so mike can send you the right one. I was able to knock my sight out with a piece of hardwood and a hammer. My lovely wife held my pistol still on the carpet while I whacked on it. The hardwood doesn't mar the finish on the sight or the slide. Mark

Mark, does your mil hit to point of aim, or is it shooting high or low? I'm drifting out my sight in the morning, before I call Mike at CZ, that way he'll have a reference towards picking the right one for my gun. Thanks - georgestrings

Thanks Mark, I took the rear sight out, and it was a #3. I'm trying to get ahold of Mike at CZ - I'm sure he can take care of this. Believe it or not, you offered more help than I got from the CZ Forum. Thanks again, george

I picked up my Turkish contract 75 today and the test target from it is way to the left and low.I hope it really isn't that bad!

Well, after a thorough cleaning, between 250- 300rnds, it appears to have raised the POI up to where it should be. I never saw this happen during the break-in of a pistol, but I suppose anything is possible. I don't think it was me, because I was shooting my other guns well at the time, and my CZ-40b has been dead-on since day one. Inow have 500rnds through this gun in 4 days, and it hasn't had a malfunction of ANY kind. Will shoot it again tomorrow, and let you know how I make out. - georgestrings
