CZ 75B Compact

I'd like some first-hand info about these pistols--not the PCR alloy-framed ones, but the regular steel compact 75. I recall that there was a problem with extractors a little while ago, but I don't know how real and widespread that was.

Basically, are they as reliable as the full-size 75s?

The only extractor problems I am familiar with were with the CZ 75B Military full size pistols. I have a CZ 75 Compact and it has been trouble free since new. You might try www.czforum.com for more info on this pistol though.

For every one dollar spent on a CZ product, you get two in return as far as value is concerned.

The internals of the CZ are as robust as they come. We are talking a chunk for machined, forged steel here with meat galore in the lock up areas.

I have the full size CZ75B and have had no problems yet. It is accurate and designed to digest any factory ammo out there and keep on ticking. It is extremely easy to operate and I love going cocked and locked.

The extractor and firing pin must be kept clean. That can easily be accomplished by a couple of blasts of Gun Scrubber and after a few thousand rounds, you need to have a competent gunsmith go over it anyway-------------------I feel that applies to ANY firearm. In any event, it is easy to remove the firing pin if need be. My suggestion would be to clean it after every range trip.

CZ Compact...

The extractor problem you heard about was very very limited.
The compact is generally regarded as a very solid gun.
I has some weird prob.s with mine, but it was not common with
any other guns I know of. I honestly can say..they get good reviews not only on the CZForum, but great reviews here on TFL.

The compact is a stout gun...2 lbs empty. Built like a tank. Shoots accurately with a great trigger, is easily concealable even
on a small weasel like me. I love my gun, even after giving me
a very big headache for a while. That is all I can tell you.

There are no real problems of any kind with the Compact gun
or the design. They are just a gun, a nice one at that.

Shoot well.

Cool.

The CZ site (www.cz-usa.com) says that the regular compacts (not the PCRs) are available in all the cool finishes I see the full-size 75-Bs in. But I've never seen them. Do they exist?

I saw a two tone at a gun show last year...all others have been
poly black. There is a cool two tone on the forum de CZ.
I think the full sized are alot more popular in the nickel and others. Few 83's and Compacts are out there like that, I dont
know why....CZUSA sells the guns for 10-15$ more...you would
think they would be more popular.....

Shoot well

Have one. Steel frame and slide. Runs great. Balances great. Reminds me of my hi-power in some ways (except the trigger isn't too close for me like the HP).

This gun has it where it counts.

The DA pull is very smooth, and the SA letoff is pretty darned crisp. This is one of the very very few DA/SA guns that I'll allow in my safe (I'm a hard core 1911 guy).

Came with glow in the dark sites (the kind that have to be exposed to light to glow). Maybe I'll replace them someday.

The gun is a great value. Paid about 379 a couple of years ago. I won't be selling it. Want to pick up a full size someday.

I've had extraction problems with my full-size CZ-75 that was made in 1993.

It's strange, because it worked perfectly for several hundred rounds, then I went to Okinawa for a year. When I returned, it started having extraction problems.

I've replaced the extractor and extractor spring, recoil spring and guide, and installed extra power Wolf mag springs. It has reduced, but not elimated the problem. Replacement of the extractor spring probably did the most improvement.

Destructo6,

I gotta tell ya, that is strange. Replacing some of those things should have fixed the FTE prob. What are the odds your chamber
is a little tight? Just a thought...

Shoot well
