CZ 75 without decocker lever

I just purchased the CZ 75 Compact without the decocker lever and with the safety. Actually, you have both. It's simple to decocker the weapon by putting your freehand thumb between the hammer and firing pin and pulling the trigger; but, you should release the trigger and slowly rotate your thumb away from the frame to lower the hammer. The hammer will rest at the half cock position - same as it would if you had the decocker. If you continue to hold the trigger as you rotate you thumb, you will lower the hammer to the firing pin. The half cock position is recommended.

Congratulations on your new CZ 75 Compact. I like mine.

As I recall, the Instruction Manual says to not decock to the hammer down position. The reason for the half-cock position is to make decocking safer. Once the hammer is released and eased down a bit, releasing the trigger engages the firing-pin block, so a slip of the hammer cannot cause a primer ignition (even if the half-cock position did not exist). So, manual decocking is pretty safe and easy. Some gun games require a CZ 75 start from a hammer-down position, and manually decocking to that position is harder to do with a release of the trigger, and I've read reports of disqualifying NDs resulting.

I carry cocked and locked, so don't do any decocking except just to practice the skill. I feel awkward using my left hand in the process, so I reach my right theumb up over the hammer and depress it firmly against the rear of the slide, I pull the trigger, let the hammer drop onto my thumb, release the trigger, then lift my thumb. The same process works well with my CZ 83s, despite no half cock (they have a rebounding hammer safety).

Enjoy your Compact.

that's how I carry my safety model Rami. easy to manually drop the hammer safely.
my PCR has a decocker, though. I'm fine with either.
