CZ-75 Magazines

I need some spare magazines for my CZ-75B. So before I pull out the Visa, I have a few questions.

- Will magazines (16-round factory) for an EAA Witness full-size fit and function in a CZ-75B?

- How about 15-round mags for a TZ-99? Will they work?

- How are the ProMags for the CZ? I was thinking of getting a few for range use only. Good idea, or throwing money down a sewer?

Thanks all,
Chris

http://www.empirearms.com/pistols.htm This place seems to get CZ factory hicaps in pretty regularly. I have seen similar posts/threads and the consensus is that factory CZ is the way to go, Promags are so-so (might as well get them while you can ?) and Witness mags will work with minor filing.

I bought some last year. They were very reasonably priced (dealer cost was, I think, $26 each, and retail was something like $40). This is for new, pre-ban, orignal CZ 75 magazines. I'm not sure if they are still available, but I've also seen other vendors selling them for not much more. I don't know if the others would work, but I'd go with the original CZ mags. I think CZ USA is located in Kansas City (if memory serves). I just phoned and ordered. I think they required me to mail a check or money order (no credit cards).

Ditto on the Pro-Mags. I've also used Magnum Research 10 rounders, and they're OK.

Check www.cdnninvestments.com They've had great deals on CZ mags, recently, including 10 round original CZ mags for about $15.00 -- great for the range or IDPA.

I own a Witness.. and as I have heard, they are interchangeable with CZ-75 clips. I haven't tried it.. but I have handled them. If they are/aren't interchangeable, they look darn near the same!

If you find out where you can get some "regular capacity" magazines, please let me know where you aquired them and for how much!! :D

I have several (five I think-I'll check after work) new CZ-75 pro-mags. They seat fine in my witness but don't drop free so I don't use them. They are essentially new in wrapper. I'll send one to you to try if you want. If the mag doesn't work send it back, if it does work for you and you want the mags I'll sell them cheap-$11.00 each or trade for equal value of browning HP mags. My daytime email is sjohnson@mse-ta.com. Home email is scjohnson@in-tch.com

CZ will sell direct to the public both 10-rnd and hi-cap mags. I bought three hi-caps from them last year for my CZ-75. As I recall, the price was $45 each, not bad for factory hicaps still in the wrapper.

I have no idea how much they charge for 10-rnd mags.

Hello. You can get the 15 rnd factory CZ 75 mags from CZ-USA or CDNN, but can order on-line only at CDNN. I think the factory magazines were something like $45 each. The Tanfoglio magazines will work in the CZ, at least the old TZ 75 mags work fine in my CZs.
While these prices are high, they're not so high as some pre-bans out there. Best.

Steve J - Thanks for the offer. E-mail has been sent.

So the EAA mags do work. Do they fit flush, or stick out? Reason I ask, is that full-capacity, factory EAA or TZ99 magazines are about half the price of factory CZ75 magazines.

Maybe I should just buy one of each...

Chris

Or, you can call a company called One Eyed Jack. Their ad in Gun List is selling CZ-75 factory mags in the expensive neighborhood of of $65. Geez, I'm glad I ordered my from the CZ Factory for $45.

Okay.

So now I am REALLY confused.

What I want is two 15rnd magazines that are as close as possible as to what I received with my EAA 9x19 Witness PS produced by Tanfoglio in Italy. Looking at the link that Walt provided to CDNN, they have (what I think is correct) what I am looking for -- for only $14.99 a pop. Is this right??

Well, this is what I know:

CZ-75/85 Factory Pre-ban (15-round) $45 from CZ-USA, $50 from CDNN.

CZ-75/85 Mec-Gar Pre-ban (15-round) $40 from CDNN.

CZ-75/85 ProMag Pre-ban (15-round) $15 from CDNN.

CZ-75/85 Factory Post-ban (10-round) $15 from CDNN (maybe out of stock).

BTW, how well do the ProMags work? I've been told that they rattle a bit and their springs may be weak (can be easily changed with Wolfsprings), but that they work reliably.

Any thought?

I think I had posted a while back that my TZ mags and CZ mags were not exactly identical in the magazine catch notch area. This had caused (I thought) the TZ to fit OK ib the CZ but not the CZ mag in the TZ. I had attributed it to possible variation in production tolerances.

As I looked closer at the mags/guns recently I had noticed that the notches were pretty close from their distances from the top lip of the mags. The CZ mag would just barely catch the mag release of the TZ. That's when I noticed that it was not the notches that were off but the floor plate. The CZ mag floor plate is just a tad higher than the TZ's which is why the CZ mag would barely seat into the TZ.

Not sure what the Clone - CZ mag situation is nowadays (the TZ is a relatively old gun).

Skorzeny - I checked this for someone the other day. My 3 15-round Pro-Mags from CDNN work fine in my 75B Military. Rounds 1-7 don't rattle. After that the even numbers do and the odd numbers don't. John

Thanks. I thought I had seen your review. Looks like I should buy a few while they are still available.

I have little faith that the "ban" will not be renewed in 2004.
