CZ 75 D Compact, Mod PCR

I went to the gun shop today to buy some speed loaders for my little Smith Mod 60. I found this CZ, used, for only $300. Mint condition, two mags, 9mm. I could not resist, but I did call home and 'discuss' with my wife if I could the check. The clerk threw in a uncle Mike's holster. I hope to get to the range tommrrow and try it out.

Does anyone else have one of these Compact CZs? What do you think of it? This my first CZ product.

I've never shot one, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. You got a great price if it's in good shape, and I think you'll love it. For more info and opinions on this firearm, check out the cz forum

Lots of good info, and I think you'll feel even better about your new purchase! :)

www.czforum.com.....compact section...
The CZ D PCR is the Czech Police gun...its got alot of killer features for a defensive gun...all in all, its one of the best Compact S/autos made. Its got an alloy frame, decocker,
novak low style sights, serrated front and back straps...
Extended mag release, extra slide grooving on the front.
Its an excellent excellent gun....You can find hi caps for them
if you are patient and look around. The will cost you ......
I had the steel version of the same gun and loved it......mine was too heavy for a CCW....
300$ is beyond a steal on your gun. The cheapest PCR I have heard of was over $ 350.00..and that was a great deal.
The gun is very accurate, light, well made and concealable.
I hope you enjoy it and if you dont ...sell it too me ;)
Shoot well

I've had one for a while. You spent the best $300 of your life! It is an awesome pistol. I have had zero problems thus far with it. Its going to be my main pistol for this summer's competitions.

I own one. I am very pleased with it.

As with any autoloader, keep the magazine clean and thinly lubricated to prevent random FTFs.

I just finished replying to your similar post on the Assault Web board. Below is the text of that reply (I apologize for any points already covered by others here at TFL):

"...The CZ 75D compact is more familiarly known as the PCR, designated as such because it was designed for the Police Czech Republic. It is a superb compact 9mm pistol, one you don't often see offered for sale used.

It generally gets rave reviews from its owners, myself included. In fact, mine slightly edges out both my SIG 239 and my SIG 225 (two other superb 9mm compacts) in the accuracy department. Reliability has been flawless and the trigger is downright sweet. It also happens to be the pistol that rode on my hip today --- I definitely trust my life to it.

As for the price, $300 is very good. And please note, there are 13rd compact mags out there -- although they're not exactly common. But fullsize 75B factory 15rd mags can be had easily for $40-$45. They function perfectly, but protrude a bit from the bottom of the grip.

Do check out the CZForum for more info. You'll find the PCR discussed on both the regular pistol forum, as well as the Compact Club forum..."

Take care. Marko

...This my first CZ product.

Oh no. Now you've done it. You bought a CZ. Only one problem I know of to look out for- they are highly addictive. I don't know of one person who bought a CZ who was able to keep it at one.

I don't own the PCR but I love my CZ 75B. It is my most accurate gun (it is actually the most accurate 9mm I've ever shot). It is very reliable (I've shot ~1400 rounds and only had one minor hiccup, and that was when I let the oil on the rails go dry). This is currently my favorite gun (and it isn't my newest- that honor goes to a Taurus 605).

The PCR is probably one of my next 2 or 3 guns (the CZ 97 and another 1911 are also on that list). There is the slim chance, depending on my mood at the time, that one of the next guns on my list will be bought first (I often don't go in my intended order) but the PCR will definately be in my possession by fall.

$300 is a steal. Around here I will have to pay about $450 for a new one.

I've got one too

I have had a PCR for about a year and its been great. Its one of my primary CCW guns. Light, accurate, nice features as stated above. $300 is a STEAL. You'll want a 75B, 75 SA or 85B next. I don't have any hicap mags, but as mentioned the 75B, 15 round mags will fit and function fine. They just potrude slightly.

Mannlicher...

...don't know what mags you got with yours [probably two Klinton's], but the 75B 15-round factory mags will fit and function fine.

The 13-round mags for the PCR are pretty rare and expensive, but you can find them if you want to pay the tariff.

I have a target hanging on my office wall with a grouping of 3.25". First ten shots out of my PCR...at 25 yards. If not for the first-round flyer it would have grouped less than 2.5".

Most who shoot the PCR are shocked at how easy it is to shoot accurately. I could have sold mine at least a dozen times since getting it last summer.

It's a keeper and you got a heck of a deal!

I would buy it. the CZ-75D Compact PCR normally sells for $399 new, if you're lucky enough to find it for that price.

The "CZ Connection" guy who advertises on gunbroker.com (and has a rather mixed reputation among CZ Forum posters) wants $399 + inflated profitable shipping for it. I would not be surprised to see it for $425 in a retail store, plus taxes.

I paid $339 for my CZ-75BD, which is the fullsize military 75B with a decocker and no manual safety. It came with the factory 10rd and 15rd magazines, and I added another $18 for the rubber Hogue grips.

No matter what variety of CZ you buy, I strongly suggest the Hogue rubber grips for it. It feels so much better to have nice deep finger grooves on the gun.

Grips

They don't make the Hogue rubber grips for the PCR. From what I remember, the Hogues add the nice finger grooves, but they make the grip wider.
I personally prefer thinner grips on my guns, and especially on the CZ's, where the DA trigger reach is kind of long, thinner grips seem to make it more comfortable.
Personally, I like wooden grips. CZ's are supposed to be nice, but I personally only have experience with Hakan's custom grips. I would recommend Hakan's work without reservation.

Shoot the CZ a lot - the trigger keeps getting better and better. But I don't think the camming of the hammer will go away (gonna need a gunsmith for that).

Steve

I personally think the stock grips on the PCR are as good as you can get. Nice and grippy, fill the palm and with the front and rear grip serrations, it ain't movin' in your hand, baby. :)
