CZ 75 Compact (with rail and safety)

I did a search of the forum, but couldn't find anything. Perhaps I didn't search correctly since I am not sure what I am looking for.

I just purchased at my LGS a CZ 75 Compact which has a rail and an ambi safety. I had been looking around locally for a while for a P-01 with zero luck, and I almost passed this one up since it is a safety model and not the decocker. But the price was too good to pass up and it was available today not at the end of some undeterminant waitlist period.

My question is what exactly is this thing? I can't find anything like it on the CZ website or in their catalog. It is almost like a SP-01 "compact", or a P-01 with a safety in lieu of the decocker. Everything else seems to be exactly the same.

Can anyone shed light on this? If you own one, did I do well to purchase this instead of the P-01? So far, I love it and extremely excited to go shoot it after this rain lets up.

I own an OD green P-01. In my research, I read about a steel framed SP01 compact. I believe that is what you have. A great purchase if it is indeed. My full sized SP01 tactical is an extremely pleasant shooter. You probably won't find much information as these are coming in small batches from my understanding.

The other possibility is an Omega trigger equipped P-01. These are even rarer. Does it have different levers in the box? Pics?

Thanks for the reply.

There are no other levers which would indicate that it is an Omega system (convertible from decocker to safety and vice versa). Based on what it looks like and the model information shown on the gun, I think it is indeed the compact version of the SP-01. Would it say SP-01 anywhere on it? Or just 75 Compact?

I can't wait to shoot it. Just feels really comfortable in my hand. Next steps are my ccw permit and the Hill People kit bag so I can have this on me while fly fishing and hiking some sketchy areas around here.

From my understanding "we" like to call at a Compact SP-01. It is a steel frame (not alloy) Compact with a rail and manual safety. The beaver tail cut in the grip seems to follow the compact dimensions instead of the deeper cut of the SP-01, but that is just me looking at pictures.

I know where there is one right now, but since I recently spent my gun money from last years proceeds of my app, I can't really get one. But I think they would be very very nice, and I wish I had found one.

Congratulations.

p.s. rumor is these are firearms that are overruns for various contracts that CZ had and that because CZ sells these special models there are lots of unusual CZ 75's out there. Makes it even more fun!

After some more research, it appears that what I bought is one of these: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=83224.0

If this indeed one of 500 (which I doubt) then I'm extremely happy I decided to purchase. Even if it isn't, I'm still extremely happy.

Is CZ known for limited production runs, challenging availability, and offering models like this which aren't in catalogs? Just curious if I should look around for anything else unusual coming from them.

Thanks! I definitely love the steel frame. It fits my hand perfectly.

Yeah it's definitely not light. But I'm a fairly big dude(6'-8" and 250 lbs) so I don't think it will bother me. I only ever plan to carry it in a chest rig/pack when hiking, hunting, or fishing, so I feel comfortable it will be fine. If I were to carry daily I'd chose something different. I really wanted something to carry as mentioned above but also something fun for the range.
