CZ 75 COMPACT. Opinion?

Dead Logic

Anyone have a solid opinion about the CZ 75 COMPACT?

Note; I do not own a Gun yet. I was just looking about for something, Small. More or less.

The compact offers all the features of the full size CZ 75 while reducing weight and bulk for comfortable carry. The compact is 20mm shorter in the slide and 10mm shorter in the grip. All the compact fire DA/SA, and are equipped with a firing pin block for enhanced safety.

I have a CZ-75 PCR model (compact, aluminum alloy frame, decocker). I like it a lot. I picked the PCR to save some weight - the steel-framed CZ compacts seem a little heavy to me. Even the PCR isn't especially light compared to the many plastic pistols now available. While the Aluminum may not be quite as durable as steel, I predict this pistol will still be shooting great when your great grandson inherits it. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of the CZ-75s, but would especially recommend the PCR.

CZ75 Compact

I just brought the PCR home 2 weeks ago. Nice price, shot well, no regrets.
I did a lot of forum reasearch before I shelled out the dough...very satisfied.

CZ Compact

Great gun for the money, but not that small or light! The PCR is lighter and "melted" The CZ75 is a pretty large, heavy, all-steel pistol.

I've one. A great little gun.

Put 800 rounds through it with no problems at all. Fast and combat accurate at 10 to 15 yards out.

I use 15 round pro mags. They stick out +/- 1/2 inch below the grip and have had no problems with them at the range.

I agree it is not a pocket pistol but you can trust your life and your families life to it right out of the box.

I have a CZ 75 Compact which I bought new. It has been a disappointment, failures to eject, failures to feed, slide locking back prematurely, you name the failure, it will do it at least 5 times per 100 rounds. Get yourself a Glock 19 instead. Good luck!

Another vote for the CZ-75 PCR. Yes the .3 lbs. does make a difference. 100% reliable, very accurate, great trigger and fantastic grip. Get one. I have a hard choice between this and carrying my HK P7M8 which was $600 more.

Wow. Nice. Got a pic by any far flung chance of the CZ-75 Compact, Blued, 9mm?

Oh. On everything I've seen considering CZ-75 Compacts, I've never seen them stated as; CZ-75 B COMPACT. Not on any of the Offical websites, at least. Should I know something about this, here?

Can the Compact use the regular full-size CZ mags? (15rd.)

Also, where can 13rd mags be found for the Compact?

Steve

CZ full size mags

They will take the pre ban hi caps from the full size ..they stick out
the bottom 10mm. Which isnt bad...I am getting 1 or 3 for my
compact, for when I carry it. The hi caps for the compact have been called "the holy grail" on the cz.forum. Pretty rare and pricey.

I am going to machine an aluminum block..into a spacer/slip cover. It will go between the pre ban 15 rnd mag bottom and
the grip of my compact. It will have the usual finger groove
at the bottom. I will let you know how it turns out.

Shoot well

PCR shoot any different from compact?

Can you carry the PCR in S/A safely? I didn't see a manual safety on it (looks like it got replaced by the decocker).

Is there any difference in shooting the PCR and the normal compact? You'd think that the all steel compact would have less recoil and muzzle flip.
I've shot the full sized CZ-75 - how does the compact and the PCR compare?

You cannot carry the PCR "SA", it is not intended or designed to do so or safe, there is no safety on that gun other than the Firing pin block safety, It is a "D" Decocker; what looks like a safety on the frame is actually the decocker lever, the gun is "DA" for the first shot, then SA for the rest of the magazine or until the decocker lever is activated.

If you want to carry condition one go with the Compact.

SteveC: My PCR shoots identically to my fullsize 75B out to 25yds --- in other words, excellent accuracy and no increase in perceived recoil.

Also, having owned both the PCR and the regular compact, I prefer the PCR for a number of reasons: the weight savings (yes, one third of a pound is noticable); the novak-style sights, the loaded chamber indicator; the frontstap and backstrap serrations; the decocker; and the rubber contoured grips (exceptionally comfortable).

Obviously, I highly recommend the PCR.

Take care. Marko

Well put, Marko. I am quite happy with my compact....but will love when I can find a PCR to add to my CZ's. Shoot well
