CZ 75, 75B, 75 Military. What's the difference?

I'm looking to buy a CZ75 variant and would like any info on the differences in the models. A local retailer has the Military version on sale for $350+tax. Is this a good price? I would like to know mainly what the differences are between the Military, regular 75, and the 75B. What would be a great price for each of those models? Thanks in advance for your input.

There are a few differences between the 75 and the 75B.

The B has a firing pin safety and the 75 does not. You can see part of this as a roll pin that is visible in the slide serrations. Some complain that the trigger is poorer on the B because of this. I haven't shot a B, so I couldn't say.

The 75 has slide serrations that are somewhat dished into the slide and the B's are even. Not a major deal.

The B has a 1/4 inch wide ridge down the top of the slide, presumably to aid sighting. The 75's slide top is rounded, but smooth.

The front sight on the B is held in place by two pins and is pretty easy to replace. The 75's front sight is staked-on and may work loose (mine did).

The B's trigger guard is squared, whereas the 75's is rounded.

There are probably a few more things, but that's what I've noticed.

I have no idea about the "military" version, but I intend to go to Turner's and check it out. The $350 for a CZ-75 seems to be a pretty good deal at this time.

J&G had/has the CZ 75B Military with nite-sites for about $350.

As sold, these pistols print three to three and a half inches high at 25 yards. The rear sight is a Number 6 (look on the top of the sight for the number). A #6 is the tallest available. According to Mike, at CZ-USA, the CZ 75B are normally supplied with a #3 sight, ergo the too high Point Of Impact with the #6 sight. A new shipment of nite-sites was due 1 JUN, but did not show and is now supposed to be about 30 days from delivery.

I will ressurrect the existing CZ 75B thread first posted by Mylhouse 14 FEB 00, [url="http://[Link to invalid postww.thefiringline.com/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/004552.html,[/url] about this topic when the new night sights come in from Israel to CZ-USA.

G23,

Destructo6 already described the differences between the 75 and 75B so I won't go into that. I'm not familiar with the "military" version. Perhaps a parkerized finish? If so, that's what I would choose.

I just picked up a 75B earlier this week for $339 so $350 is in the ball park. The $339 price was the best I could find both locally and on the net. Came with one 10 round magazine and one hi-cap. I'm hoping to get out to the range with it tomorrow to try it out.

Well, how about that. Looks like I got the Military version and didn't even know it. :) I just thought that was the way it came. Funny that the box didn't mention anything about it....... Oh well.

G23,

I can now strongly recommend getting the CZ75 in whatever finish you choose. This is one nice pistol.

The CZ 75B comes standard as the "Military" version. The upgraded ("Combat"?) pistol includes night sights and comes with one 15 round as well as one 10 round magazine. It also has a black polymer finish. I'm not sure what the finish is on the "Military". It may be black polymer also. The "Combat" cost about $75.00 more than the "Military" version if my memory is correct.

Wholesale price should be around $300.00 for a CZ 75B Military.

New high capacity magazines still appear to be available for the full size CZ pistols in 9X19. Magazines for most of the Italian made copies however are not interchangeable with the actual Czech ones from what I can tell.

Sorry for going full auto. I kept getting a Connection Timed Out message and thought something was wrong. My bad.

Isn't ambidextrous controls another difference between certain CZ 75 pistols?

The CZ 75 seems to be highly regarded here at TFL. I have given thought to acquiring one myself. I do prefer the looks of the original with rounded trigger guard and spur hammer though.

I just picked up CZ-85, because I am a leftie and want to carry it cocked and locked. The DA on CZs and Witnesses sucks.
This gun has supposedly a military finish. Kinda feels like parkerizing but is dark.

I had a CZ-75, now have CZ-85, and couple of days ago handled CZ-75B. I remember CZ-75 having a good trigger, and being relatively accurate. CZ-85 is very accurate (for my skills), and has horrible trigger, with distinct creep (which even more so shows how accurate it is). The CZ-75B that I handled, had an excellent trigger. I am talking SA here, DA on all was smooth but heavy.

So the moral of the story is, they all seem to be from relatively accurate to very accurate. Triggers range from lousy to excellent, so visit several stores, dry fire, and pay even extra for the good example. A lot of gun for the money.

Oh, and this resommendation comes from a Glock affictionado.

What, does someone want to buy my spur hammer?

The CZ-85 is abidexterous. Here's the Czech CZ page, which explains quite a bit and has excellent pics:
