CZ-75 .22 conversion exchange -em!

Hey gang, I bought my CZ-75 in major part thanks to the info I got here, so I want to make sure everyone knows the following.

History: I swithed from remington to winchester and federal .22 in my conversion and I was getting constant failures to ignite (like 3 or more in a clipfull). Being curious I looked at the empties and saw that the firing pin left a very SHALLOW ROUND strike on the rim. I decided this wasn't acceptable and called CZ-USA at their 800 #. I found out they had problems with the firing pin and redisigned the unit with a chisel shaped firing pin for better strikes. CZ-USA told me to ship it back and the'd send me a new version, which I did today.

So, if you have a conversion or a kadet with the round firing pin call the factory and ask if you can get it exchanged. You apparently need to send the whole unit back not just the firing pin.

just a heads up

Shiro,

Thanks for posting that. I just got a Kadet .22LR conversion kit last week and noticed the round firing pin. Found it odd as I've never seen a .22 with a round firing pin. I had 2 rounds fail to fire (on the first strike) out of 400 I shot last Saturday. It didn't really bother me at the time but now that I know there is an improvement available I will see about getting one.

I like the Kadet kit a lot. VERY accurate and fun to shoot. Good sights too.

Thanks again.

I wonder if they would retrofit my pistol and send it back, or send me a different pistol altogether.

Thanks for no one mentioning my spelling errors..LOL. :)

Joe.. I found that some .22 ammo (remington and federal cp hp's) didn't cause undue problems but then when I tried two new brands/types (winchester wildcats and federal cp solids) I was getting a huge number of failures, so the ammo matters a lot, but it should function well with all ammo types so send it back!

BTW I think 2 out of 400 is just normal for rimfire .22's. Rimfire ignition just has a certain failure rate and you have to live with it. It helps that .22 are $10 for 500 ;)

Shiro,

Maybe that's why I only had two failures. All I have in stock right now is the Remington HP stuff. I found a good deal on it. :)

>it should function well with all ammo types so send it back!

I agree. I thought the round firing pin was odd for a .22. Never seen another make use one of those.

True, but a strong, correct firing strike will minimise failures.

>It helps that .22 are $10 for 500

That's why I got the Kadet kit. :) Love that cheap practise.

Thanks again for the heads up.

Greetings, I'm in Anchorage too! Small net eh? I had my CZ-85 out at Rabbit last Sunday comparing it with a H&K P-7 PSP and a Beretta Elite..all in 9mm. I'm debating selling the CZ-85, it's got Wichita adjustables low milled etc, etc and a bunch of hi-cap mags. What's it worth these days? henry

Small world..LOL. I was just out at rabbit today, I got an AK-47 yesterday and was doing my first blasting. I shot off a few clips of 9mm from the cz while I was at it. I have trouble shooting well with the strong double action pull but single is a dream. Heck if I hand't just bought mine I'd buy it.
