CZ 712 G2 (3-Gun) - any experiences?

A similar value in found in the Weatherby SA series, also made in Turkey. They are worth checking out.

It is much, much easier to make a high performance shotgun than a high performance rifle. So I don't see the need to spend a fortune on a shotgun unless you want either cosmetics or perhaps you lust for a Benellli M4 tactical semi-auto and you want the absolute fastest shooting and most reliable shotgun around, and don't mind spending 3X what it costs for one that is not very far behind...

Would not suggest the CZ712 for 3Gun. It was getting a lot of traction a few years ago, but almost everyone has given up on it.

In the budget category, the Stoeger M3000 (or better an M3K) is the only option.

Shotguns that work in factory trim do not work well in 3Gun unless the shell is released on the trigger pull. That ONE feature is key to making shotguns run reliably with longer magazine tubes. It is not Inertia, or Argo, or gas, it is the way the shell is released to avoid shell surge. ALL of the good, reliable and desirable 3Gun shotguns share that one feature. It is not to be ignored unless you enjoy frustration.

MarkCO: just had a thought about tricking out a Browning A5 with an extended mag tube ...

What's your view on an A5 for 3Gun, assuming we could find a reliable mag extension tube and spring kit?

The A5 is one that releases the shell on the trigger pull. It is being used successfully and it is a good platform.
