CZ 550 FS Mannlicher... What do you think??

CZ

I know your pain...started with me with the CZ 454FS...out of the box was more accurate than my bedded Ruger 77/22...which I sold to finance the CZ 452lr varmite...which is abosolutely shockingly accurate...which led me to the CZ527FS..223...which to this day shoots better than any other rifle I own....only problem I have, is I can not/have not found any more CZs for sale in Oklahoma...without ordering sight unseen..which in the quest for the figure in the wood...keeps me from getting more CZs in the mannlicher stock...but I will find one.....in time....be it 308...or 3006...

I used to own one in 243 Winchester. It was both accurate and easy to look at. The only complaint I had was the 550 action is a long action. The 243 is a short case. Wished I'd purchased the cartridge suitable for the action, I'd still have the gun. A 270 would be a good choice as would the 6.5x55. You will absolutely love the single set trigger.

I had a CZ 452 FS in 17HMR that came with a 3lbs trigger pull from the factory. CZ makes great guns... and the full stock models are amazing. You will not regret this rifle.

I daydream sometimes about the 550FS, it's a looker for sure. If only the 6.5x55 had a 1 in 8" twist I'd have one now...

I've handled(fondled) a couple, and was very impressed. It feels lighter than the numbers would suggest, and handles beautifully. If only... :o

I have the CZ 550FS in .308 and love it. The rifle balances nice, is accurate and is comfortable when carrying in the field. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I've owned two, one in 6.5, the other in .308. I did not like the removable magazine because it cannot easily be reloaded in place. While the full stock is all right, I really liked the Bavarian style buttstock (I think it's called). It simply fit (me) better than any other sporting rifle I've picked up and tried. But I also have to admit I'm not wild about Mauser actions, having been spoiled on Lee-Enfields 40 years ago.

Not the question you asked... but I have a CZ527 in .223. It is likely the most accurate rifle I own. I'm just an average shooter and this thing makes me look really good.

I really love CZ products. And here's the interesting thing... I'm from New England, Massachusetts specifically. You don't see many CZ products up here. Part of it is the damn stupid MA gun laws that make it so it is virtually impossible for us to own CZ, Glock, H&K, Kahr and many other popular handguns. Since dealers don't stock the handguns they tend not to stock the rifles.

If it were not for internet forums like this one I would never had been turned on to these fine firearms.

The 6.5x55 Swede...

...I agree with viking499, it would be sweet.
I saw that rifle in a catalog from years ago, and of the calibers available, I thought the 6.5x55 Swede would be perfect.

:D

I have one in .308. It is simply a spectacular rifle and it is beautiful!

Be aware that the factory recently went to a different style of stock. The picture you have is of the earlier stock. The new one is a bit more stylized. The wood is also a lot plainer. CZ is very inconsistent about what they release so unless you are specific you are likely to get either.

Go here and compare this stock to your pic:

If you do decide to get a new one go over to the CZ forum and find the member there who is an FFL. He goes right to the Kansas City Warehouse and he always has one with outstanding wood.
