CZ 527 Varmint

Yesterday I ordered my first CZ - a 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet.

This is far from my first gun!

However, it's my first CZ and from what I read, scope mounting can be problematic. I purchased the CZ medium rings and I like Nikons...but I've read this is a very tight fit because of the larger OD of Nikon's ocular bells.

Anyone have experience mounting scopes on CZ 527s? Specifically Nikon scopes? Or any advice on what ring/scope pair mounts closest to bore axis? No cheap scopes...Nikons and above....$300 to $600 would be ideal for this particular setup.

If you have pics of your 527 I'd love to see them! Name the scope and the rings!

Here's my 527 in .223---

Scope is a Leupold VariX III 1.5-5, rings are CZ high rings.
I tried to mount my extra Nikon M223 on this rifle. Got it all snugged in and then tried to open the bolt---and you are correct, the ocular bell will not allow the bolt handle to pass, even using Leupold high rings.
Original owner used a Barska with 50 mm objective, which left a rub mark on the barrel. And he wondered why the rifle shot funny...*
Range test when I get over being a sissy about winter.

*yes, I know a $60 Barska would do that without the rub.

Thanks gentlemen! Nice rifles - can't wait to get mine.

Today I picked up both a Nikon Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40 and found a new (although discontinued) Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 for a great price. The Buckmasters ocular bell diameter is noticeably smaller than the new(er) Prostaff 5.

I'm going to try them both when I get the rifle...will post pics and info!
