CZ 527 Free Float Just Finished

I have the CZ 527 .223 REM with the Walnut stock. Me and my brother sighted it in back in October and free floated the barrel. At that time I didn't seal the wood. Well, I just finished sanding the inside of the stock to a nice finish with very fine grit sand paper and sealed it with several coats of an oil based poly-something-or-other sealant, and then polished and worked that in with a rough rag, all until everything is sealed, slick, and nice.

Put it all back together, I can still run a receipt up and down with out snagging on the stock, or barrel.

Everything is in excellent condition!

It was easy to do, and I recommend it to all!

Since I am working at the computer testing a new feature for my app, I figure I should generate some reports to show you all how the rifle shoots with the barrel free floating.

I have shot 35 grain up to 75 grain ammo through the CZ 527. It stabilized all of it and shot everything great.

One shot on this one (no group) done by my Uncle. We just didn't have enough 35 grain to shoot. My Dad shot the other two rounds at a bucket filled with water at 100 yards to see the devastation.

Since this is one shot, think of it as shooting at a deer. I think he got the deer.

Here is 75 grain Hornady Superformance Match ammo:

Good shooting! Sounds like you are enjoying the experience of owning a fine firearm! Free floating a rifle barrel is one of the easiest "do-it-yourself" accuracy improvements. CZ makes really good guns---you get a lot of gun for the money. My second CZ is a 222 Remington. That little rifle is the sweetest shooter I have ever owned, bar none. Shoots very consistent sub 1/2 inch groups at 100, and 1 inch groups at 200. The thing I value most is consistency, and this one is 100% consistent.

Enjoy!

Thanks. 222 Rem is a cartridge that I have no experience with. No friends or family member has one. My family and friends have .223 Rem, 220 Swift, and 22-250. I am glad yours shoots so well. Do you feel it is a combination of the cartridge and the rifle, or one more than the other?

I have had great accuracy from my 527 in .223. A nice coyote rifle to lighten the load on the way to a call site. My only gripe is the way the first round feed from the magazine. Very Stiff. I usually just download it to smooth it out. Anyone have a cure for that?

SirGilligan, is there anything special you have to do to take the stock off your CZ 527? I owned a CZ 527 Kevlar varmint in 204 and I would like to be able to get to the underside of the barrel so I can wipe off the brownish (rust) like color from the underside of the barrel. I'm kind of new to the gun business. The manual didn't say anything about how to remove the stock but there was a warning. Thanks for your help.

[QUOTEJust out of curiosity, isn't the 527 already free floated?][/QUOTE] That caught my attention as well. Both of my 527's arrived out of the box with more than enough clearance to slide a dollar bill.
