CZ-52 original green-grey finish

I would like to chang the surface finish of my CZ-52.
On another forum, a member suggested using acetone to remove the original coating before proceeding with another treatment.

Has anybody ever carried out such an operation using acetone?

Is there a risk that I end up with certain areas clean and others with the coating only partially removed and impossible to complete?

The idea is to, in a second stage, polish-off marks and then blue it.

Thanks for your input.

That green-gray finish is phosphated (Parkerized) and I strongly doubt acetone will touch it other than to remove the oils soaked into its grain over the years. Only way I know of to get it off is to blast or polish it off. If you blue over unworn Parkerizing you will get a nice flat black finish.
