CZ 52 for carry?

I was looking at using my cz 52 for carry. For whatever reason I can shoot it so much better than anything else. I'm not a real good or fast shot normally. That changes with this gun.
It clears the holster blinding fast and I don't even bother with sights. At gunfight range I hit a soda can just about every time.
That is a huge improvement over any other handguns I have.
They shoot just fine but I can't shoot them very well.
Well these are my reasons in favor of my cz 52.
What are the negatives I havn't looked at yet?
Thanks.

Ammo?

A few negatives, for carry, would be the quite likely overpenetration of the 7.62x25 round, and the muzzle flash. I'm sure you have noticed the CZ-52 is quite a little fireball. Try firing it at night before you decide to carry it.

Sounds to me like it likes you. I don't see anything wrong with carryin sumpin that you can shoot well.

You're definitely not undergunned

And if I remember right, CorBon makes a dandy hollow-point 7.62x25 carry load for the little flame-thrower!

:)

I agree with HALO. Overpenetration could be a real problem.

You may save your life to lose everything in a lawsuit, when an innocent bystander gets zapped, through a wall, somewhere.

And to those who say, "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6," the reply is, civil suits don't require juries.

I'd suggest that you either find some ammo that won't penetrate the BG and the adjoining house, or consider a different gun. If it were my wife or kids hurt or killed by such a shot, I'd be after your butt, too...

(The CZ-52s extremem penetration is more a function of the bullet shape, I understand, than the innate "hotness" of the round." With the right round, it should still pack a punch, but leave the round IN the target.)

The overpenetration is a make or break issue.
I've checked the corbon website for personal defense ammo with no luck. I've also tried general search engines with no results.
Does anybody know where I can find self defense ammo in 7.62 x 25?
Thanks!

Here is some ammo for you to check out. Very cool stuff. Makes me think hard about getting a CZ52 now.... I have not emailed or called them to check the velocities, but i expect that they are hot. The 60gr jhp looks like a good low penetration home defense load, and the 110 jhp should have pretty good controlled penetration so would probably be my pick for a day to day carry load.

The sabot-loaded ammo is screaming. If they are going to load this I guess it negates the need for the .223/7.62Tok wildcat that i had talked to a friend about..... :D

IIRC, Federal Arms makes a 9mm conversion barrel for the CZ52. I will hunt around the web and try to locate it.

Most of the reliability problems I've heard about with the CZ-52 involve this conversion.

Seems like a 9mm Largo conversion should work well, cartridges are about the same length, and there is a lot of that speer gold dot 124 largo load out there.
